L'ivresse ne s'improvise pas. Elle relève de l'art, qui exige don et souci. Boire au hasard ne mène nulle part.

An author seeks a friend to drink champagne and talk about literature. Perfect!

I read Petronille (excellent) and Marie (good but less memorable) last year. Edith Wharton's A motor flight through France is on my TBR, I'm sort of waiting until I go to France to read it. Wishful thinking perhaps! 😉🇫🇷 #setinfrance #jubilantjuly

batsy I've long wanted to read Nothomb! 7y

Pickpick

Wild, restrained and fun. A story about friendship, Paris and champagne ... and the need to feel alive.

"I have some Roederer Brut," he said. "Sorry, no Cristal. Will that do?"
"Fine, provided its chilled."
"But of course," he replied, shocked.

I love this book so much already.

Described as 'literary Thelma & Louise with a whole lot of champagne thrown in'... What else but champagne to drink with it? 🍾

Reviewsbylola That cover is very striking. 8y

Japanese poetry got it right: it is the contemplation of landscapes that reveals us best.
