No judgments. No limits. No shame. Cassie Robichaud's life is filled with regret and loneliness after the death of her husband. She waits tables at the rundown Cafe Rose in New Orleans, and every night she heads home to her solitary one-bedroom apartment. But when she discovers a notebook left behind by a mysterious woman at the cafe, Cassie's world is forever changed. The notebook's stunningly explicit confessions shock and fascinate Cassie, and eventually lead her to S∙E∙C∙R∙E∙T, an underground society dedicated to helping women realize their wildest, most intimate sexual fantasies. Cassie soon immerses herself in an electrifying journey through a series of ten rapturous fantasies with gorgeous men who awaken and satisfy her like never before. As she is set free from her inhibitions, she discovers a new confidence that transforms her, giving her the courage to live passionately. Equal parts enticing, liberating and emotionally powerful, S∙E∙C∙R∙E∙T is a world where fantasy becomes reality.

This was a quick read. I liked the self-discovery and women empowering women aspects. It‘s erotica and started off fairly steamy. However, after the third fantasy the book seemed to lose that steaminess. The other situations felt a little cheesy and also rushed. I didn‘t really like the direction/cliffhanger/issue at the end even though I saw it coming. This is the first in a trilogy and I‘m not going to read the rest of them. #Bookspin for May

TheAromaofBooks Great review!! Sometimes it just isn't worth the time to finish a series! 5y

Here is my #BookspinBonanza list with the drawn numbers on the left. I‘m almost a third of the way through my first book (tagged) and it‘s getting steamy.

Proposals have been made by me to create a new era with innovative innovations just like Artificial storms etc. but couldn't complete due to lack of support and opportunities. If world scientists have invented any technology in future that recreate humans of past,Kindly remember and recreate me to complete my uncompleted missions together with world Great scientists.

This was a reread for me. This book is sexy but I also found it very empowering. I shared a few anxieties with the main character and through this transformation she learned to be bold and came out of her shell.

I‘ve read a lot of books this year, and so far only have two 1-star reads, so that‘s not bad!

I did have two bails, and that‘s rare for me, but I don‘t think I can count them as #worstreads since I didn‘t get far.

Mrsann2000 What a great idea for a post! Worst read. Will have to think about this... I‘m sure I have had one or two but nothing that pops out. 6y
sprainedbrain @Mrsann2000 I had forgotten one of these... I had to look at my Goodreads to find my worst books. 😂 6y

Heaven help me, I have stumbled into a super-cheesy sex book and I can‘t get stop reading it.

Maybe if the sex scenes were 🔥🔥🔥 I could better handle the excessive cringeyness. Alas, they are not. 🙄

#WhereDoIFindTheseBooks #HowDidThisGetOnMyKindle

AllenTStClair That IS cringeworthy. And I read all the Fifty Shades books. 🤣 7y
sprainedbrain @AllenTStClair yeah, this makes Fifty Shades and maybe even After seem like solid writing. 😂 7y
ReviewsbytheMrs Sometimes I ask myself the same question, “How did this get on my Kindle!” 😂💜 7y

theresidentromantic I can give you some good recommendations for better #kindlecrack if you want! I definitely couldn't get through that! Or Fifty Shades lol 7y
LittlePixels LOL, I too can relate to the question "how did this get on my Kindle?" ? Usually, the answer is that I mindlessly downloaded it during the early Kindle days of '07 and '08 when just being free was enough to gain instant entry to my Kindle. So. Much. Crap. Was downloaded. ??‍♀️ 7y
julesG @LittlePixels What she said! 7y
sprainedbrain @LittlePixels @julesG @ReviewsbytheMrs I have soooooo much crap from my days of snatching up the kindle freebies! This was most likely one of those acquisitions. 😂 7y
sprainedbrain @theresidentromantic I will gladly take any recommendations you have! (I will still finish this train wreck, though.) 😂 7y
LibrarianRyan I enjoyed this series. Yeah it has its cheesy moments but most erotica does. I used to recommend it for my patrons who wanted to try erotica because it has a solid focus on the woman and her pleasure. It approaches all the aspects of a sexual relationship with a woman finding out what she likes. It is much easier for a novice to jump into than 50 shades. 7y
sprainedbrain @LibrarianRyan maybe that‘s my problem... I‘m not a novice! I‘m going to finish it but I doubt I will read the others. 7y
Pamwurtzler @sprainedbrain @julesG @LittlePixels @ReviewsbytheMrs Oh God yes. So much crap was downloaded back then that I moved it all to a collection just to get it out of my sight. I‘ll probably never read it all. 😀 (edited) 7y
theresidentromantic @sprainedbrain I honestly never go for #kindlecrack freebies. If you don't want me to pay for it, there's probably a reason no one's buying it. I usually stay at .99 and above lol I recommend both the Ivy and Molly books of Sierra Simone, all of Charlotte Stein, A. Zavarelli, and all of Madison Faye. Madison Faye is truly bad, but it's not badly written and you get about three novellas per book. I'd start with her royals. Happy Reading! 7y
LibrarianRyan @sprainedbrain I wasn't a movie when I read it either. About the only book in the series I didn't like was the last one. 7y

You aren't going to pick up this book if you are not okay with the subject matter.
It's a good quick read. I like the self-discovery aspect. It's the first in a trilogy. I might read the rest, but I probably won't go out of my way to find them. A quick beach read for me, and for that it was perfect.
