I'm so so angry at this book. I wanted to love it. I loved the first 250 pages, but then abuse became entirely too central to the plot and a perfectly good book was ruined. Almost DNFed this one and i wish i hadnt finished this one. The ending wasn't worth it

This was a truly terrible and beautiful story. If you were a fan of Deerskin by Mckennley, you‘ll love it.

Book club read. Not for me

Bummed the Kindle version doesn‘t have a cover. Anywho, this is yet another gem by one of my favorite writers, Kate Forsyth. “The Wild Girl” tells the story of Dorothea Wild, who grew up across the street from the Grimm brothers, & had a lot of input in the writing of their stories, in the midst of the Napoleonic Wars. Part history, part love story.

TRIGGER WARNING: Sexual abuse/Incest. However, it‘s done with care.

I'm giving this book an overall Pick. Depending upon the place in the book, that would not necessarily be the case. I almost bailed at the beginning when it was reading like a bodice-ripping romance. That passed but other times I was convinced the book would be So-So because of consistency. As a big fan of historical fiction, I realized at the end that I enjoyed the book as a whole. Trigger warning for sexual & physical abuse.

THE WILD GIRL by Kate Forsyth is a historical novel about the Grimm Brothers & the woman who shared her stories with them. It was darker than I was expecting and not quite my cup of tea, but still fascinating. Comes with a trigger warning for sexual abuse.

I love this book. I love how it seamlessly weaves the weft strands individual lives with the warp threads of history, all while telling a wonderful story..full of other stories.

Rereading a favorite.

Feelings! Feelings! This book gave me so many feelings! I am in awe anytime an author is able to draw out my feelings, to actually make me feel things down in my gut. Amazing! There are definitely a lot of tragic moments in this book and Sometimes I can't handle that, but I couldn't stop.

Well... Huh. This audiobook was ok. The story was ok. It just felt SO LONG. It really felt way too long, and could have benefitted from having a good portion of it cut out. If you love historical fiction though, you may really enjoy this. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

When I heard Kate Forsyth on the Conversations with Richard Fidler podcast I wished I had a Ph.D. in fairy tales - she was fascinating, and so was this tale of the girl who gave the Brothers Grimm a great number of their tales. Her story and her love for Wilhelm Grimm was incredibly moving 💕
