1. The tagged book. The resolution is so surprising, but still the characters are so incredibly real and human that they are a pleasure in themselves.
2. Nicola Upson. Read the 7th book in her Josephine Tey series by chance and now l need to read all of them!
3. LA Confidential. I actually liked the film more than the book

1. For me the characters are paramount. I want them real and flawed, but also with an aspiration to tedemption. I also want a plot which pieces fall into place like a puzzle. And an expotition that leaves space to my intuition.
2. I don't often reread. I find that my perception of a book changes over time. Sometimes l appreciated more on reread, sometimes less.

Browsing Amazon I thought this would be an interesting read. Just prior to ordering it I noticed I already had it on my bookshelf. Today I settled down to read it only to discover that I already had.
pickThis was an enjoyable read. I liked the overall idea and was genuinely wrong about both my predictions to the ending. The outcome of books are the only time I'm happy to be wrong
Almost halfway through this one. I got a little fold away stand a few days ago and it's absolutely perfect for my kindle, which I appreciate hugely because 99% of my books now are ebooks. Bonus is the back part can fold flat and is adjustable so i can take it anywhere. Makes knitting/crocheting while reading a whole lot easier

Gonna try and get a start on this one tonight. Reading hasn't been something I've had a lot of time for lately, and that doesn't look like it's going to change anytime soon, but I'll still be getting in my pages here and there when I can.

It's a mystery, but also a bildungroman and to some extent a coming of age. Filled with awesome characters, both male and female.
Leo was born Charlotte, but eventually he could shape his life the way he wanted. Life has some hard surprises in store for him, though.
It's a wonderful story.

pickThis was a really interesting read with a clever plot. The story is detailed and atmospheric. The mystery is clever with many twists that keep you unsure until the end.
Leo is such a great lead character especially as he's a man in a woman's body. It's an interesting twist to the story and written so well. Plus I grew to love him as the book developed
pickThis a fabulous read with some fantastic and intriguing characters. The leading protagonist is very realistic, likeable and sympathetically drawn. It‘s beautifully and evocatively written. There‘s a good sense of time and place, so easy to visualise. There are plenty of twists and turns with the odd red herring. The plot is engaging and fast paced, it drew me in immediately. A thoroughly enjoyable and entertaining story.

Fantastic novel set in Victorian London with a main character, Leo Stenhope, born Charlotte Pritchard.
The mystery is reasonably intriguing but the true strength of the book are the characters, with Leo in the lead. Beautifully human, vulnerable and brave, never giving in. Yes, l like the characters' arcs more then the mystery 😆
