MIRI loves the novel Undertow like it's a living being. So when she and her friends get the chance to meet the author, Fatima Ro, they plot a way to get closer to her. As for what happened with Jonah ... Well, obviously none of that was Fatima's fault.SOLEIL wants to be a writer herself one day. She can't believe it when Fatima asks them to hang out with her - and having Jonah there makes it even better.PENNY is more than the party girl everyone thinks she is, and she's willing to share her darkest secrets with Fatima to prove it. But what will happen when Fatima finds out about Jonah? All of This Is True is a story of obsession and revenge, betrayal and forgiveness, and the devastating result of a secret that didn't stay buried.

The unique structure saved this book for me. It's told in interviews, journal entries, email, texts, and book excerpts. I figured out the major twist pretty early on, so it seemed a bit of a slog to finally get to the reveal. However, there was a lot to say on where an artist\writer's inspiration begins, and if the information is freely given, does it count as a betrayal once it's out in the world.

I‘m on a non-traditional structure kick. This one has interviews, journals, and a book-within-a-book excerpts.
What‘s your favorite book with a non-traditional structure? Mine will probably always be the Illuminae Files.

This book was given to me for free by Kathleen Glasgow, author of Girl In Pieces and How to Make Friends with the Dark. I‘m glad she did.

I picked this one up, then almost set it down after a few pages. I didn‘t like the writing and could tell right away that at least one of the characters was going to rub me the wrong way, but I had just seen the title on a list with many books that I had enjoyed, so I kept reading. It never shocked me like the cover blurb promises, but it ended up being decent with a nice twist.

This book... was amazing! The characters were so relatable and open with how everything happened. This story was told though interviews, book excerpts, emails, and text messages. This really brought this story to life and made it seem like this could have actually happened. This book dived into the secrets that we keep, the friendships we make, and just how far some people are willing to go for fame, friendship, and to hide from their past.

In this YA thriller, what happens when your favorite author manipulates you for material for their next book? This is very well done, and I was most drawn to the format of the book, which is told through interviews, journals, and book excerpts. I also got my copy signed/met the author at the Brooklyn Book Festival, and she's really cool! Definitely check it out if you love YA, thrillers, or both.

Another book chosen in my reading club during July. I couldn't go to book discussion.A YA novel about 4 young fellows that became obsessed with a writer. They even became "unconditional friends". Then the writer publish a novel in which these five persons are the plot of the novel & secrets & scandals are revealed. Coincidence? Betray? Do you believe in absolution, the cleansing of the mind body and soul?3⭐ī¸Written like interviews style. It's ok.

I'm only like 10 pages in and I just want to sit down and swallow this book whole. Love the idea of a novel inside a novel. There is also this air of mystery since we dont know what Miri, Soleil, Penny and Fatima are hiding. Told in the form of interviews, blog posts and the fictional novel itself, this book is like pretty little liars and gossip girl had a beautiful intriguing book baby. #summerreading #thrillers #youngadult #dogsoflitsy

This was one of those books that I enjoyed while I was reading it. But once done I completely moved on mentally. A pretty meta books about teens meeting an author they love and then staying in her life. They influence her next book and it makes things complicated.

Super quick read! This was my first shot at a YA book and I am intrigued to find another. It started out as a “chic-flic” type novel but between the plot twist and some of the in-depth writing it was a superb novel!

This was an addictive, quick YA read that I enjoyed. I was in the mood for this sort of thing-it pulls you in with a mysterious tragedy that is slowly revealed.

All of This is True details what unfolds when a group of teens meet their idol, twentysomething author Fatima Ro, and find her everything they'd dreamed her to be and more. The author writes herself into their lives with the intensity of a cult leader. But when Ro's new novel comes out, the teens discover they weren't just the author's friends; they were characters she'd been using to fuel the arc of her narrative.

KateFulfordAuthor If you need another recommendation, may I point you to my People‘s Book Prize nominated debut? Sassy female narrative, laugh out dialogue and a pacy plot. Check the link in the bio for 2 free chapters, reviews and more. 6y
