Things I Learned in the Night
Things I Learned in the Night | Emily Byrnes
4 posts | 2 read | 2 to read
Things I Learned in the Night is a beautifully illustrated poetry collection and a tribute to young love in a society that so often tries to invalidate it. Many of the poems in this book are exquisitely woven with nature imagery; a subtle reminder that through our struggles and joys we must all remember to take deep breaths and run in the rain every now and then.

I always struggle with poetry. This one had a lot of hit or miss poems. Pretty 50/50.

Bklover Me too- poetry has never been easy for me. Love this though! 5y
eriedoodle There were a few really great poems in this book. I just get really tired of love/break-up poems when it is what encompasses a majority of the book and a lot of the poetry I've read is all that. I've found a few Jems recently tho. 5y

Littens! Could you guys give me suggestions on poetry collections? The only poetry book I've read is the tagged one. I feel I should be reading more poetry rather than just novels. So I'm open to any type of poetry.
Just trying to expand my reading. 😊

madamereadsalot1 Anything by Neil Hilborn. He's an incredible, new poet! 6y
amb This one was the first poetry I had read in a long time and it felt so personal and also empowering. 6y

I don't care much for poetry but decided to try out this book on Kindle since it was free. This is the first time I'm reading poetry and this book by Emily Byrnes is definitely making me feel something. Her words are so simple yet it gives me chills. I think 'Things I Learned in the Night' is going to be a great read after all.

TheWintergarden What beautiful imagery. I love this. 6y
