I went into it expecting nothing and it was still disappointing. The story was dragging on for the first 250 pages with nothing happening and then picked up in the last 50 pages.

I couldn't care about the characters. I thought there'd be more magical elements or some sort of explanation for the magic diary. But that was just ignored. The whole book felt like it was trying to delve into some deeper meaning but completely failed.

Here's my bookspin list for Jan 2021. I loved doing the challenge last year. And hopefully it'll get me out of my current book slump! 😁
I have only 14 books in my physical tbr right now. So I just assigned double numbers to the first 6 books, if that's okay.

How can one book contain this much sadness?

This book is so different from the books I usually read. I've read about 3/4th of the book and it's so interesting to see how things could go so wrong so fast.

I don't understand the point of story. So what if people want to buy clothes and stuff anytime throughout a year instead of just festivals? She criticizes her friends for going away on holidays during Diwali to escape the holiday stress and then complains about people staying indoors. What is she trying to convey? #goodolddays ? All the short stories that I've read in this book seem very preachy to me. The author seems to thinks she's always right

This book isn't capturimg my attention. Why hasn't anything happened yet apart from Amy going missing? I know I'm supposed to feel sorry for her but I feel like she's being a hypocrite, a snake. She talks about being cool with her husband being laid-back. But I think it just pisses her off. I just get annoyed when I read her chapters. Even her husband Nick is kind of getting on my nerves. He seems to have an excuse for everything wrong with him.

I'm late to this month's bookspin challenge. Here's my book #3. This is a re-attempt for me because I kind of gave up on this book last year. Maybe this time with the time limit, I might actually finish it.

The Woman in Black is my first novel from the horror genre. So I'm doubtful on how to give a review of this. The story is about a young solicitor Arthur Kipps who has to travel to a rural village in England to sort out legal papers of a dead client in her middle-of-nowhere house where he discovers the vengeful ghost of a scorned woman. Unheeded warnings, strange sightings and sounds, hauntings, you get the drill.

Opinions please!! I'm starting the Narnia series from tomorrow for the first time. I noticed that the actual order of books are different from the published order. So which order would you guys recommend to read them in?

I have no idea what went on in this book. It was like Ahern just starting writing and went where the story took her - to the land of boredom.

Lyrebird is about a woman named Laura hidden away in the wild mountains of Ireland, discovered by a documentary crew who want to capture her story and showcase it to the world.

The Hazel Wood is a dark inverted twisted kind of fairytale story that opens up your imagination and takes you to the dark world of not-so-happily-ever-afters. Welcome to the world of doomed princesses, violent hands and where bad luck isn't necessarily as abstract as we think.

If you're looking for an easy breezy hilarious rom-com book to fill you with warmth, this is for you. The book is very funny filled with adorable instances of social awkwardness and utter cluelessness of Don in his wife-finding project. I found him quite irritating at first but I couldn't help but fall in love with the character and all his subtle and not-so-subtle quirks and all his innocent antics.

I tried a little wall decoration today. These beautiful cards were given to me by my #JB group penpals when I was in the group last year. They were just collecting dust in my shelf so I thought I'll give them a new life. They were too pretty to be just kept in a shelf.

'The summer that never was' is a pretty straightforward police procedural/crime book. I wouldn't classify it as a thriller because there wasn't really much element of surprise.

This was my February bookspin read😂. I couldn't finish it because my university exams kept me too occupied. But now with the quarantine and all the exams postponed, I guess I could finish this by the end of this week.

This book has been on my TBR for 3 years now I think. And I'm finally picking it up. It was completely covered in dust. I don't think I've even flipped through it after I bought it. 😂

These are just a few points that I wanted to specify after reading After. I wanted to like this book so so so much but I just felt it was very immature. Nobody can be that naive, can they? There were so many red flags after all. Or maybe it's just that love makes you blind.

Bestseller is filled with sarcastic jokes but it's not laugh out loud funny. I found Akshay quite cynical sometimes. He definitely has a way of getting under one's skin. I would've appreciated the book more had the author brought in more Indian themes. The cover design of the book had a very interesting concept which became more clear when I read the book. On the whole it was a good light read.

Looking forward to reading this book about the crazy world of publishing.

Coming from a place and community where arranged marriages are a way of life and completely normal, I understand Lena's exasperation. 'Love marriages' are usually frowned upon and considered as western culture by conservative Indians. I'm not trying to generalize over here but it's definitely not uncommon.

BTW, I'm loving this book!
