Chris Cornell was born on July 20, 1964 and passed away in May 18, 2017. He was an American musician, singer, and songwriter. He was best known as the lead vocalist for the rock bands Soundgarden and Audioslave. Cornell was also known for his numerous solo works and soundtrack contributions since 1991, and as the founder and front man for Temple of the Dog, the one-off tribute band dedicated to his late friend Andrew Wood. Cornell suffered from depression and substance abuse problems earlier in his life. He was found dead in his Detroit hotel room early on the morning of May 18, 2017, after performing at a Soundgarden concert hours earlier. His death was ruled a suicide.

Hooked_on_books Love his voice. I feel awful for him that he wasn‘t able to find a way forward. Such a loss. 11mo
TheBookHippie @Hooked_on_books me too. We saw him in concert right before and I just hope he‘s at peace now. 11mo

TiredLibrarian We saw him in concert not long before, too. He did a long show and seemed so joyous doing it. It was such a shock to hear. 💔 11mo
Readergrrl Chris Cornell was, and always will be, my favorite vocal artist and a vital part of my young adulthood. May 17 is always a sad day for me as I‘ve never really loved any musician‘s work as much as I did/do CCs. I can‘t believe it‘s been 6 years! What a voice!! 11mo
