Jake Buchanan, a writer with an 8-year-old daughter and an imploding marriage, gets on a plane. Sitting next to him is Clara Stone, a former teacher who has recently started suffering from agoraphobia. Jake and Clara get to talking and connect instantly--they feel like they have met before. Clara confesses to Jake that she's going to Colorado to kill herself. As the plane descends, Jake searches frantically for a way to convince Clara not to go through with her plan, but she disappears into the crowd at the Denver Airport.Told in alternating POVs, THE ORPHAN LIST is the story of what happens to Jake and Clara after they get off that plane, and the manipulative figure from their childhoods that has brought them together decades later. Intensely creepy, beautifully-written,and full of Carter Wilson's signature whom-can-you-trust paranoia, THE ORPHAN LIST is a psychological thriller unlike any you've read before.

A recommendation from a bookstore employee so I was intrigued, good title. I thought it was a a thriller but did wonder why it was in the YA section.
I really don't like discourage a book i don't like to others but this book was Eh, I finished it which if it was completely terrible I wouldn't have but very predictable ☹ There was some really good lines in the book but they didn't belong, darlings that needed to be cut.

I did read the whole thing but thought it was okay. Maybe it was too violent for me? 🤷🏽‍♀️

I enjoyed this book. It was a quick read. A man and woman meet on a plane but feel they know each other. What does a children‘s book and pill have to do with memory and lost childhood? ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The premise was really interesting, the book was just ok. Didn‘t love it or hate it. It passed the time.

Hmmmm.... this book had an interesting premise (psychological experimentation on children who lost their parents at a young age) and began with an extremely intriguing series of events, but sadly the book began to quickly lag. The ending was good and allows for a discussion about broad trends in social research, albeit unethical in this situation, but the story did not have continuity in terms of style or pace.

Im not sure why, but I love these lines. They give such imagery to what the character is feeling. #quotes #netgalley #arc

The Dead Girl in 2A is another book where it took an unexpected science fiction turn. So I‘ll quickly state that while for me it was “okay,” I can see how others would really enjoy this one.

Jack and Clara board the same plane, and while neither can exactly place it, they‘re certain this is not their first encounter.

Readers soon discover the secrets of their past.

Thank you NetGalley for this advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Alfoster Agree about that science-fiction turn but I loved it. I‘m just a Carter Wilson fan so the twist didn‘t bother me! 5y
KristenDuck @Alfoster exactly. That‘s why I said I can totally see it being the perfect book for some people! 5y
Alfoster I‘m sometimes creeped out by the fact that I like “dark and edgy”!😳 5y
KristenDuck @Alfoster nothing wrong with that! 5y
