This beautifully illustrated graphic novel tells the stories of fearless females who have fought, and continue to fight, for the rights of women today. This was a fun and informative GN, but I have a feeling it would work better for a younger audience. I knew a lot of the women and the history told in the book, so there were no surprises for me. But nice artwork and a feminist history is enough to earn a pick from me! 🙌

My birthday is in September. For a few years now I‘ve viewed all the books I buy in this month as birthday presents to myself. These are the books I‘ve bought so far this month.

I found this to be an engaging and sometimes snarky history of feminism and the women‘s movement. It included biographies without feeling chunky and overviews of the main movements. Race and class are acknowledged but I do think it could have benefited from some more direct discussion of intersectionality. Overall, a definite pick.

Nute Informative review! Sometimes I don‘t mind a simplified presentation of a large platform issue. Is it a graphic novel? 5y

Suffragettes were responsible for bombings, fires, property damage, and more in order “to get their message across.”

I struggle with the idea of peaceful vs non-peaceful protests so this was a good reminder for me that throughout history people were frustrated enough to agitate for the change they wanted to see.

“Those who do not move, do not notice their chains.” - Rosa Luxemburg

I feel like there may be many women in the US who could benefit from thinking on this quote since they are actively working with an administration that wishes to suppress the rights of women and people of color.
