I‘m not surprised by this and look forward to reading it myself. A book by teens wins the teen NF award.

Mehso-so

A bit like a memoir with a bit of a call to action. I wanted to give it a so-so but didn‘t want to be the first, peer pressure made me do it. I‘m not totally sure what the point is, it was disjointed and not well put together. But their personal insight is quite valuable. Edited - my true review is so-so, I changed it to that. #unpopularopinion

MayJasper I dare you to change it to a so-so ❣️ 6y

David and Lauren Hogg, siblings who survived the deadly shooting in Parkland, FL, offer us rare insight. Lauren tells the emotional tale—she lost 4 close friends that day. David tells the activist tale—about using tragedy to galvanize action and protest. The book is well done, and the teens do a bang up job narrating the audiobook. I hope that, as David says, we adults can find effective solutions to this horrible problem.

KathyWheeler This issue angers me so much that I don‘t know if I can read this book. I‘m stacking it anyway. 6y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @KathyWheeler It‘s not long. But I agree about feeling livid. I can‘t believe we are STILL “debating” this. 6y

A good quick read designed to make you remember and think. I enjoyed the book and getting to hear their stories from their own perspectives. #24in48 @24in48

Powerful and difficult to read. A must read for those of us who might be feeling tired of outrage and needing some hope. #neveragain

I came back to Litsy to enjoy some social media that was less political, but this paragraph was too good not to share.

I read this early this morning before heading back to the library. It‘s a very quick, powerful read. It breaks my heart that mass shootings still happen, that our elected representatives are bought and paid for by the NRA, but these kids give me hope for positive change.

“Never, ever stop pointing at the naked emperor.” #resist #neveragain

CoffeeK8 Oh wow! This is the first I heard about this book. 6y
DGRachel @CoffeeK8 I think @MelissaSue81 posted it a couple weeks ago and my library had it almost immediately available. It‘s a really quick read, too me just over two hours this morning, but I thought it was done really well. 6y
Chrissyreadit Yes- these kids are amazing. I am very hopeful for our future. I love that they are actively engaging in voter registration as part of the process to make change. 6y

Hogg has his flaws, and he attempts to admit them in this book. But for an 18 year old (and his 15 year old sister), he tells this story right. No spoilers, but the last chapter is just one giant punch in the gut

I also swung by the library and picked up this little gem. It wasn‘t even on the shelf yet, they just got it yesterday. #neveragain
