Meh. This got confusing at times, and the sound effects tended to make me more confused, rather than help my understanding. The storyline kept my interest, but there was more deviant sex woven into the plotline than I would have liked. A few scenes were memorable, but most was forgettable at best.

Late Victorian London. When the most respectable of Scottish businessmen is pulled, dead, from the Thames, his daughter is drawn into an investigation which reveals a whole world of secrets and corruption and leads all the way to the tragic truth behind the ghostly legend of The Darkwater Bride...

This was so slow and the audio version was awful. Not a fan of this at all. It just was so out there and the plot felt forced. It could have been in part from the audio being so bad, but I don‘t think I‘ll try another version.

Pickpick

Creepy, dark, gross, salacious. Men getting their comeuppance for the foul things they do to women. Is the deliverer of justice real or a myth that‘s become real? The daughter of a Scottish banker presumably killed by the Darkwater bride goes to London to investigate and discovers its underbelly and more. A darned good tale, as haunted as they come. Maybe not the best easter read! Save for Halloween. It‘ll be perfect.

LiteraryinLawrence Nice! What will you make? 4y
LiteraryinLawrence Never mind. Didn‘t look at the picture carefully enough. 😋 4y
Daisey Sounds like a great plan. I made chocolate wafer cookies for an icebox cake this morning while listening to my audiobook. 4y

Doing some audio gardening on this cool morning.

HeathHof Beautiful! 😍 It snowed here last night 😬 4y

Texreader @Mynameisacolour Must be skiing country! If we were still allowed to ski! I‘m always shocked that there‘s snow somewhere in April. Winter for us is normally over by the end of February. This year we had practically no winter! 4y
Texreader That‘s our last surviving iris of the year. They are quite lovely when all in bloom but the flower bed was too weedy to look very nice. So I spent the last two weeks belatedly weeding it (it‘s a huge bed). 4y

Found this petunia on my yard today. I guess this flower is not afraid of winter.

TheSpineView That does not look like a petunia. It looks like a pansy. Either way they both like cooler temps. 4y
CoffeeK8 @TheSpineView you‘re right! Wrong “P” flower! It‘s been in the high 30s the past week and it‘s hanging on! 4y
TheSpineView @CoffeeK8 It is pretty. I am glad a few flowers hang on. 4y

My next #tbrjarpick is... The Darkwater Bride by Marty Ross. I‘m going to start this after I finish listening to The Mueller Report. This one sounds exciting. Here‘s what this audiobook is about:”Late Victorian London. When James Miller, the most respectable of Scottish businessmen, is pulled, dead, from the Thames, his daughter is drawn into an investigation which reveals a whole world of secrets and corruption.”

This radio drama was an Audible freebie for April. I thought it was a wonderful Victorian horror/mystery/ghost story and beautifully acted. It is, however, for a mature audience with language, violence, and sexual themes. It spends a good bit of time in London‘s seedy underground so trigger warning for brutality against women. Not for the squeamish but excellent story if you like darker material.
