Bone Soup: A Spooky, Tasty Tale | Alyssa Satin Capucilli
2 posts | 1 read
Three little witches and a bunch of spooky characters come together to prepare a delicious batch of Bone Soup in this Halloween tale based on the beloved fable, Stone Soup. This just-scary-enough picture book comes with a recipe for Bone Soup--perfect for Halloween eating. Trick-or-treat? Trick-or-treat! We've something usually good to eat! One Halloween morning three witches are looking for a tasty treat and they find only a small bone in their cupboard. So they decide to go from door to door in their village to find just the right ingredients for their Bone Soup. No one in the village is convinced that soup can be made from a bone, until the littlest monster reveals just what the special ingredient should be.

?? Little One Book Review: Mommy and I read this book on Halloween night. Although we liked it, we didn't love it. "Bone Soup" was inspired by another story called "Stone Soup." (There's a brief description of the original story in the back of the book.) This will be a very quick review.

Book #6 in our "1,000 Books Before Kindergarten" challenge

Review is continued in the comments section ⬇️

Readage Three witches (who are rather cute, we must say) are trying to make Bone Soup, and they need a wide variety of necessary ingredients to fill their cauldron. It takes the work of several hideous creatures (including a vampire, goblin, ghost, monster, mummy, etc) to gather and combine the ingredients, making this book a moral story about teamwork and helpfulness toward others. 1mo
Readage Although we appreciate the lesson of the story, the book was a little longer than we liked. For us, it was one of those books that you can read just once and not revisit. The three stars are primarily because of the illustrations, which are quite adorable. 1mo
Lifeisasnap Love the illustrations! Story was a little long... 1mo

• Here's another cute Halloween-themed book we read recently. It was a tad long and the subject matter wasn't our favorite, but we finished it in order to write a proper review. Working on posting the brief review to our blog and then we will share with our Litsy friends!! STAY TUNED for another Little One Book Review 📚📚 •
