This is one I have always wanted to read to compare to the movie but had never gotten around to until now it was fun to get to know this iconic character better. The book character is just as magical as the Mary we see in the movie but quite different otherwise. Definitely a fun book to read.

Graywacke Awesome Tee. I loved that book when my kids were young. 6d
ImperfectCJ @Graywacke The other teachers knew it, but none of my 5th graders even knew who Grover was. I felt a little old. 6d
Graywacke @ImperfectCJ No Grover! They‘re so deprived! ☹️ 6d

This zany red head was a childhood favorite and she stands the test of time of time. Still a fun read. Now I have a hankering to watch the movies. Pippi on the run is my favorite.

Another series I'm rereading this year - absolutely LOVED the Swallows & Amazons books when I first read them, so I'm going through them again. This is the second book in the series, full of exploring, pirates, shipwrecks, mountain climbing, caves, and more! Every page was a delight.

“ 'Goodness, how it stormed!' Pippi would say. 'Even the fishes were seasick and wanted to go ashore. I saw a shark that was absolutely green in the face and an octopus that sat holding his head in all his many arms'“

🤣

I love Pippi Longstocking and wanted to be just like her. I still do! She‘s a rule-breaker, she‘s outrageous, she‘s fearless, she‘s self-sufficient and she has a kind and generous heart. This is the 2nd book in the series & just as much fun as the first. Only this time, we get to meet Pippi‘s almost as strong and equally outlandish seafaring Dad.
Thanks @TheBookHippie for bringing Pippi back into my reading life.😍📖

Celebrating #NationalLibraryWeek & honoring all librarians in this brave new world of having to defend the right to read. Thomas Hughes Free Public Library pic is from yesterday's visit to Rugby, TN. The #library opened in 1882 with over 5000 donated books. The utopian community didn't succeed, but the library & 7000 books remain for visitors to peruse & appreciate.
