Again my 5* rd is not the one I'm picking today and I have gone with an old friend in wallander. I've put off getting to the final in this series because it would feel like leaving behind a character that has kept me entertained for yrs despite how grumpy he was. Then I found this off shoot about Linda , his daughter, and am just sorry that henning mankell couldn't continue this thread. I'll say bye to kurt in 2022.

Very interesting to see wallander from his daughter Linda's perspective and this was a riveting read. Linda ,just about to join the police finds a close friend disappears, no one else seems concerned until other events seem to connect to this girl and her father who survived the Jim Jones massacre. Very tense + it seems a shame that this thread wasn't developed beyond this outing.

Ive loved the wallander series + I kept putting off 'the troubled man' thinking it was the end then realised this Linda wallander bk fits in as bk 9 so I picked it up. So far it is going very well and half way through i am hooked as well as being slightly discombobulated by seeing kurt from another 3rd party view. This however is a dilemma as I'm not sure that revelations about the grumpy hero sit well with my view of him. Anyone read this one?

DrexEdit I thought I had read all the Wallander books as well! Looks like this one is still on my TBR though. I'll have to fix that mistake. :-) 3y

andrew61 @DrexEdit yes it looks like henning mankell was going to divert to a Linda series and on GR it was down as bk 9. I've had the last bk sat on a shelf for ages and wasn't ready to say goodbye to a great character but while this is a cracking story it reveals character flaws in kurt which I wasn't expecting. Glad to see another fsn 🙂 3y

Peterfox123 Wonderful book. I think I read more crime novels than anything else but no writer, for me, has drawn me into the life of a main protagonist as Mankell with Wallander. So much almost banal reality: the diabetes, the Alzheimer's, all deftly revealed as intricate plots develop. 7y
