4/5🌟

This was a masterfully written story. The Characters were lovely! The world building was thorough. It is a slow but steady read. Wasn't really what I expected🤷‍♀️ The perspective it is written in makes it a little less personal and all the characters almost become MCs because of this and it's a lot to keep up with and at times a little frustrating.

Continued in the comments --->

idealityandme I felt like there was so much back story and character build up for what I expected to be an epic ending but the hero doesnt reach adulthood until halfway through the book. I found myself wanting to be able to sink my teeth in deeper to Bayr's character but the book seemed to keep him at a distance with all of the story telling 3y
idealityandme . When the book was coming to a close I didnt feel satisfied or rewarded properly. It was a beautiful story and didn't suck and was overall enjoyable but I wanted something more epic as an ending and wanted more built into the love story side of things. I felt at times like more could have been written during certain moments instead of skipped over or rushed on quickly. Perhaps this could have been split into two books to fix that for me. 🤷‍♀️ 3y
idealityandme Long review, but overall a good read. I think many people would really enjoy this. Especially if the love story side isnt a big deal to you and if you like a slower story build up! 3y

I got this in a Christmas book exchange that my partner's mom and I do every year. I'd never heard of it and I was so pleasantly surprised, not just by how well written the story is, but also by the fact that it features two wonderful, good men, something that is lacking in so many books, especially fantasy novels. A great start to my 2020 reading!

I have high standards for Amy Harmon books. I have to give this one #fourstars although I really feel like that 5th star probably could‘ve been achieved if I‘d read the book rather than listened to it. I listen to a lot of books but this one was a little hard to follow in audio form. I‘m tempted to give it some time and then go back and read it. #amyharmon

What I Loved: Amy Harmon creates a world and sucks you in.
Read or Not Read: Great for fantasy readers, but would recommend to any reader.
Dagmar finds his sister dying, and with a newborn in her arms. She curses the kingdom to have no girl children & her son, Bayr will be the kingdom's salvation.
Ghost births the first girl, Alba, but the King steals her as his own. This books follows Bayr & Alba as they grow and try to save a kingdom.

1. This is really good so far! (I‘ve only read 5 chapters.)
2. Cleaning Saturday, bunch of friends coming over Sunday, whole lotta nothing on Monday.
3. Mint chocolate chip. I think. Sometimes a good vanilla bean is all I want though.
4. Yep! The flute. Although I probably don‘t play it well anymore...
5. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 #friyayintro

Reading_in_the_meadow I would love to do this but I don't know how 😂😭 How do I share the graphic? 5y

I can‘t wait to start this book. I‘ve read all of Amy Harmon‘s books and I think 🤔 they‘ve all been 5 ⭐️ reads for me. She was the author I wanted to meet the most at Book Bonanza and I wasn‘t disappointed. #romantsy #authorsigning #tbr #favorite

I had no expectations, only that of being intrigued by the synopsis I read on Netgalley. With threads of Norse mythology is the story of Bayr, the bastard son of Desdemona, who lays curse to the land in her dying breaths shortly after giving birth. From that day forward, no daughters shall be born. The characters seem to have seeped in my soul bit by bit. I fell in love with Bayr; he is innocent and good, down to his very nature.

SharonAlger Ooh, this sounds right up my alley! 5y

Wow!! Thank you, #NetGalley for this excellent read!! This is my first experience with Harmon‘s writing- and I‘m sure it won‘t be the last!! It‘s a fantasy novel inspired by #NorseMythology & hooks you in right away! I certainly didn‘t anticipate staying up until the wee hours of the morning to finish reading this in practically one sitting!! I cried and loved the characters and I sincerely hope Harmon sets another book in this fascinating Saylok!

MrBook Nice review! 5y
