Aimee Bender is super awesome. I love her use of magical realism and it was really fun to read a short story collection. Each story was unique and interesting and a lot of them really made me think after reading them. This is another enjoyable example of her work!
I really enjoyed this short story collection and will definitely be picking up more books from Aimee Bender. These short stories run from more realistic to magical realism to fairytale-esque. Favs were "Tiger Mending," about the relationship between two sisters but also about the literal stitching together of fraying tigers; "The Color Master," a partial fairytale retelling of "Donkeyskin;" and "The Devourings," about a woman who marries an ogre.
Available to be picked up from #NYC subway!
Thank you Barbara May Bennett it was sent by you, and today I've passed it on.
My favourite short story is 'The Color Master'
These are all the books that I have marked as Currently Reading on Goodreads. This has to stop...
I usually read multiple books at a time but this is way too many! I need to either finish or temporarily dnf some books stat
Gorgeous day out today (finally!) perfect for reading some short stories ? I've wanted to pick up an Aimee Bender book for awhile as she's often compared to Kelly Link, one of my favorite short story writers. The most memorable story so far for me has been "Tiger Mending," which is about the relationship between two sisters but also literally about mending tigers. Have any of you read any Aimee Bender?
After having a bit of a sucky day at work plus losing my voice from a cold. I went to the bookstore to self sooth. I got these 4 books for a dollar. 🤓🤓📚📚
Some of these stories I enjoyed a lot, others were meh. #audiobook #audiobooks #awesomeaudiobooks #stories
Y'all. Dollar Tree is seriously awesome.
How I'm coping with anxiety tonight: taking photos of books and editing them on here.
Of course Callie had to sit on my book just now.
This is an amazing collection of short stories! Not a bad one in the bunch. Lots of magical realism and new fairy tales. Highly, highly recommend.
