Cute start to a series. The world building was its strongest feature. The MC was a bit annoying but he‘s also a 14year old boy so it felt fitting. Excited to keep reading the series to see how things progress!

Machale begins with Bobby's adventures in a similar manner to the start of Harry Potter - our protagonist is young and naive, with little idea of what's going on jt ultimately he saves the day. Bobbys character is introduced as rather realistic, he's 14, annoying, and pissed about his life changing. Ultimately, Machale has a set up a really great character intro with excellent room for a development and growth arc.

I used to love the Pendragon series when I was in middle school. It's a really interesting read, and this cover fits nicely with the #CuriousCovers closeup prompt.

I know I‘m only about half way in but... I just don‘t really like it. I know, I know, it‘ll probably get better as time goes on, but Bobby The MC here is so 𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨. Argh.

The worldbuilding is actually pretty cool, although I feel like the author‘s kind of trying too hard to write it through a teen‘s eyes...

Pros:

-Fast paced,engaging read.
-Unique take on time travel.
-Likable side characters.

Cons:
-Definitely dated, I can tell it was written in the early 2000‘s. Given both the phrases and the technology used. So it could be off-putting for teenagers today.
-The author was trying too hard to appeal to teens at the time, so MC feels like a caricature, rather than a person.
-Questionable attitudes and statements made.

Reading for 8th grade and up.

#abookthatshouldbeadapted for #riotgrams day 22! I discovered this book at a school book fair in 6th grade and bought the first two. I ended up eagerly awaiting the release of the later books in the series with almost as much anticipation as Harry Potter. I would love to see all the different worlds brought to life on the big screen!

Beachesnbooks Oh I used to love this series! My younger brother and I would both read them when they came out. It was really creative from what I remember with a new world in each book? 7y
sunnyaltman @Beachesnbooks Yes! Their were 10 worlds for the 10 books! 7y
Curiouser_and_curiouser Wow, cool, 10 worlds for 10 books! My 10 year old has one of these books 6y
sunnyaltman @Curiouser_and_curiouser I started reading them at 11. I hope he enjoys them as much as I did!! 6y

Back when I tried my hand at BookTube. This was all the books I read through in 2015 in video form. All the videos on my channel are weird and awkward. I never fully settled comfortably behind a camera lol. If anything they are good for a laugh! https://youtu.be/UsGKRPeRHek #YouTube #BookTube

Bobby's Uncle Press was always good for an adventure....until he transported him to another world where armageddon seemed imminent. Starts a little slow but gets better as you go. P.S. My poor dog had to go back to vet for a drain placement today. He has had a horrid week.

Laalaleighh This series gets better as it goes. Hope your 🐶 feels better soon! 8y

Love these books and those bookmarks! Wish I had the artistic talent to create something this beautiful. Thanks @OSChamberlain for hosting the #MoonliteCrafts1kGiveaway

OSChamberlain Yesss the Pendragon series is actually my favorite of all time. I wish I had that talent too ? I take care of the writing and leave the art to my fiancé. Good luck and thanks for sharing! 8y

Nope nope, no reading - I will hold this shut with my face until you pay attention to meeeee.

OSChamberlain I literally just posted about this book the other. Truly my favorite series of all time!!! 9y
Vanessa Oh, it was your post that made me order a used copy! I'm reading it and then if it doesn't get too crazy with the kissing, language or whatever, passing it along to my 11-year-old son. Thought it could potentially be a good summer read for him! 😀 @OSChamberlain 9y
OSChamberlain Oh yeah this is definitely a book suitable for him. No cursing, and as far as I can remember, the only kissing scene is in the first chapter 9y

NatalieR Adorable dog! 🐾 9y
Vanessa That's what I thought, but I told my son it started with kissing and that the MC says he is "kick ass" at sports (or something) in the 1st chapter, just to let him know it's very slightly more mature than his usual picks... and he asked me to read it first and make sure it's okay. ? @OSChamberlain 9y
Vanessa He is so different than how I was growing up, but then my mom did things I don't do (censored books with a Sharpie) @OSChamberlain 9y
Vanessa Thanks @NatalieR ! 😊 9y
OSChamberlain Wow! Hahaa. But that's cool that you and him have a shared love for reading. I hope to one day have that same bond with my kid(s) 😁 9y
Vanessa Congrats on your engagement, btw! @OSChamberlain Yeah, it's fun to watch them grow as readers and share books with them! I teach English and have seen enough of the effects of not reading in my students to know that it need to be made a priority at home. 🙂 9y
OSChamberlain I couldn't agree more! I learned my love of reading on my own, and it's frustrating to live in a place where everyone wants to party and do drugs, but nobody wants to sit down to read a good book. 9y
Vanessa I'm guessing you live in a dorm? @OSChamberlain 9y
OSChamberlain Hahaaa no. I just live in Miami. The book community is not that impressive down here. Lol 9y
Vanessa Oh! LOL! Dorm life and Miami are interchangeable, who knew? 😂 I know what you mean, though - I live in what I call a Cultural Black Hole. @OSChamberlain 9y
OSChamberlain Funny, I describe Miami as a twilight zone for me. Hahaa. I was born and raised here and yet all of its culture still seems so strange to me. 9y
Vanessa It seems like it would be an interesting place to live, at least from its depiction in movies! But I definitely don't think "readers" when I think "Miami," and I'm not a party person. ? @OSChamberlain My Black Hole is dirt, tumbleweeds, and chain link fencing. People play in dirt for fun. 9y
OSChamberlain I have to say your black hole sounds much more interesting than mine. Seems a good setting for a Twain or Oates novel. 9y
