A Knight Of The Word
A Knight Of The Word: The Word and the Void: Book Two | Terry Brooks
4 posts | 16 read | 5 to read
Five years have passed since the cataclysmic events of Running With the Demon. John Ross, Knight of the Word, sworn to fight the eternal battle against mankind's demons, has moved on. Ross's years spent in the fight against the Void have taken their toll. He has lost his spirit, his belief and now it seems he has lost his magic. Working in a hostel for homeless children, his life is now spent fighting a battle in which he feels he might actually make a difference. But Nest Freemark, whose involvement in those events five years ago shattered her childhood, is about to be drawn once more into the mythic world of the Void and the Word. For she has learnt that John Ross is in great danger from a demon like no other. If she can not warn him in time - and persuade him to take up his staff of magic once more - the battle may be lost forever. . .

“We have thousands and thousands of people living homeless on the streets of our cities at the same time that we have men and women earning millions of dollars a year running companies that make products whose continued usage will ruin our health, our environment, and our values. The irony is #incredible. It‘s obscene.” #QuotsyMarch18

Dolly Both are the same species. Homeless maybe happy with warm dry clothes and a good meal whereas a rich man never seems to have a plate full enough. 6y

“A building is a home if the people who inhabit it have memories and love and a place in the world. Otherwise, it is just a building, a shelter against the elements, and it can never be anything more.” #shelter #QuotsyFeb18

"He is living in the future, but only in his #sleep. It is the cost of the magic he wields...Each time he sleeps, he has another chance to learn. Each time he sleeps, the future whispers secrets of the past. But the future is never the same because the past advances and alters it. Nor does his sleep lend order, coherence, or chronology to what he witnesses. The future comes to him as it will and reveals itself as it chooses." #QuotsyJan18

I'm so excited! I won 2nd prize in the #spinepoetry contest I entered a few weeks ago! Last year my poem placed 3rd, so I guess I'm moving up in the world 😄 The prize? A $50 bookstore gift card!

Here's my poem:

Learning to write
The hundred secret senses
A knight of the word
Shapes enduring prose,
Writing down the bones;
The runes of the earth
Building a mystery:
The invisible library

AlaMich That's good!! I'm impressed!! 👍 6y
