99/100 I'm not sure why, but i didn't enjoy this as much as i thought I would. I thought the premise was interesting, a plague that keeps people from sleeping, but i found the execution lacking. I kept feeling like the author was trying to impress me with his vocabulary and the way he painted scenes, it got in the way of my appreciation of his story telling. It is a creepy book, watching civilization crumble as people go insane from ⬇️

RamsFan1963 the lack of sleep. I only wish it had been told in a more straight forward manner, without the obvious writing flourishments. 3/5 ⭐ #Read2025 3w
AnnCrystal I've been looking into a series, which this kinda reminds me about.

AnnCrystal The Marrow Thieves by Cherie Dimaline, a dystopian novel where Indigenous North Americans are hunted by the government for their bone marrow, which is harvested because they are the only people who can still dream. In a world ravaged by climate change where everyone else has lost the ability to dream, whic leads to widespread madness. The Indigenous people's dreams are seen as the key to curing the dreamless, but harvesting the marrow kills them. 3w

RamsFan1963 @AnnCrystal That sounds very interesting. Thanks for the heads up, I'll have to check it out 3w
AnnCrystal @RamsFan1963 😎👍🏼 . Was tempted myself, but dystopian stories tend to freak me out 😅. This crazy world has me even shying away from Batman 🦇😭🦇...😂🤔🤗📚💫. (edited) 3w
RamsFan1963 @AnnCrystal I can understand that. It's the main reason I haven't read any of the recent DC Absolute line of comics, they seem so grim and dark. I prefer my heroes to have hope, even Batman at his darkest is about hope and redemption. 3w
AnnCrystal @RamsFan1963 that is truth, my favorite fact about Batman 🤩🦇💫. I recently been wanting to get back to reading Batman, I miss my favorite obsession. It's just Gotham City that makes me cringe and back away. The worst of Gotham seems to have crept into reality...👀🤗🦇💫. (edited) 3w

Today‘s haiku is inspired by me going outside tonight to pick up my mail & take out my trash. A pretty night, very breezy. I didn‘t take this picture but it suites it well.🌙

I saw this graphic on Facebook and wrote this about it. I had to get up early this morning because my mom wanted me to let in the guy that changes our water filters at our house every year. After he left, I went back to bed and slept the rest of the day but I don‘t think it made me feel better because I feel groggy. I feel like crap but I needed my rest. I didn‘t get enough sleep last night.

My boys loved this book when they were babies. That‘s been a long time ago. My oldest son turned 43 on today, his birthday.

I think students will love seeing the various people and animals piling on top of each other and then all falling once the story reaches it's climax.

Mehso-so

Audrey Wood‘s The Napping House (1984) is a playful cumulative tale perfect for young readers. Don Wood‘s soft, dreamlike illustrations are key to its charm, using shifting light and cozy details to show the drowsy calm turning into chaos. Each layered sleeper is drawn with humor and warmth, and the changing art mirrors the text‘s rhythm, making the buildup lively and engaging.
