Shake, shake, yucca tree,
Rain and silver over me—
Stormclouds, gather in the sky,
Mockingbird and quail, fly;
My love, my love, come haste away!
You‘ll surely drown here if you stay.

Alyssa Wong‘s “You‘ll Surely Drown Here If You Stay” was like nothing I have read. It was weird and off-putting and beautiful all at the same time. While the plot lost me a few times, I was always able to pick up the thread again. And it‘s in second-person, present tense. What!?
Highly recommend today's "Nevertheless She Persisted" flash fiction stories on Tor.com!! #internationalwomensday ????????
Awesome short story by Seanan McGuire!!💜 Still have to read the other fiction in the issue, but the essays on 'Labyrinth' were really cool too. Particularly enjoyed the one by Sarah Monette.
