Lady Pancake and Sir French Toast
Lady Pancake and Sir French Toast | Josh Funk
13 posts | 12 read | 13 to read
A thoroughly delicious picture book about the funniest "food fight!" ever! Lady Pancake and Sir French Toast have a beautiful friendshipuntil they discover that there'sONLY ONE DROP of maple syrup left. Off they go, racing past the Orange Juice Fountain, skiing through Sauerkraut Peak, and reeling down the linguini. But who will enjoy the sweet taste of victory? And could working together be better than tearing each other apart? The action-packed rhyme makes for an adrenaline-filled breakfast . . . even without a drop of coffee!

This MF is a hilarious rhyming book following a competitive race between two breakfast friends when they realize there is only one drop of syrup left. Does this friendship mean more than syrup?

AlexRobinson This is a good PR book to work on fluency, collaborative efforts, and partner work with some fun and silly characters! (Some great activities such as designing their own characters, rhyming words seen in the text and crossword puzzles can be found and utilized here during their PR: https://papajfunk.wordpress.com/2015/07/25/activity-kits-for-lady-pancake-sir-fr.... 4y
AlexRobinson UDL‘s for this text could focus on guidelines 2.5, and 3.3 (illustrating through multiple media and guide information processing and visualization). Some EL strategies to incorporate would be: 6, 13, and 32 (continually monitoring students‘ comprehension, using preview/review activities, and using student pairs). A super silly book I‘m sure every student will crack a smile at! #ucflae3414sp21 4y
ztorres This book sounds like so much fun. Students will absolutely love it. The message behind it is a perfect lesson to teach the students. Especially those competitive spirit students. 😊 Love the resource, especially the part that they can create their own characters. 4y
AlexRobinson @ztorres I agree! We all have those kiddos who might just be a little too competitive and it‘s good to show that competition is good but what can happen if you overly do it! And this has to be one of my favorite activities added so thank you! You could even make it a kitchen craft by bringing a breakfast bar! The possibilities are endless! (edited) 4y

Searching Barnes and Noble last night for a gift, this book was recommended to me by the manager and old friend. The one thing he said was to read it before I mailed it out, and I‘m sure glad I listened to him. This is one of the cutest stories I have ever read and absolutely recommend it.

BehindthePages It sounds cute 😍 4y
Littlewolf1 @BehindthePages It is... its like the great race but with food. 4y
Roary47 I‘ve read one of them to F. She liked the pictures. 😍 4y

The bulk of my reading at the moment 😁

rockpools How wonderful! If you have any ‘baby‘s first book‘ recommendations, I need to start shopping for my new niece/nephew‘s library in the next few days! How are you all doing? 5y
Hollie @RachelO my son loved My Monster Mama Loves Me So- I think I still have it memorized. I recently got my nieces the one I‘m about to tag and it‘s so beautiful I cried when I read it. 5y
eraderneely @RachelO I‘m enjoying books that rhyme, because it seems to entertain her best. My current favorite might be 5y
eraderneely @Hollie thanks for the lovely rec 5y
rockpools @eraderneely @hollie Thank you both! ‘Love‘ looks absolutely beautiful, and rhyming books make lots of sense - time to hit the shops 😁 5y

#wondrouswednesday @Eggs

1. French toast, bacon, and hash browns, although I won't turn down good corned beef hash.
2. The Olde Jaol Steakhouse and Tavern. It is an old county jail that has been converted to a restaurant. You eat in the old jail cells.
3. I'll read while snacking, but not during a meal.
4. Cinnamon maple french toast.
5. Everyone!!

Thanks for the tag @Laughterhp !

Laughterhp Whoa! I feel like that would be a creepy place to eat (but I‘m picturing Alcatraz in my head) 5y

An epic race through the refrigerator between two breakfast foods? Sign me up!

Lady Pancake and Sir French Toast by Josh Funk, Illustrated by Brendan Kearney is an adorable story that kids (or adults that appreciate children's books too, of course) will just love!

Who needs a digital fridge, when you can have a story book tell you wants inside. There is just one drop of Syrup left. Lady Pancake and Sir French Toast are on run to get there first. They will go through broccoli forests, and race across an ocean of chile. This book is well rhymed and funny. A sure bet for any collection.

Returning these. Excited to get a new set of books today for the kiddos. Although Lady Pancake and Sor French Toast was multiple-read funny for us parents :)
