pickI loved Emma‘s other collection of historically based short stories (Astray) and this didn‘t disappoint either. I really enjoyed the format of both: first the creative fictional fleshing out of factually based characters and/or situations, followed by nonfiction blurbs that inspired each story. All unique and intriguing tidbits from history. 👍🏾👍🏾
Ok, everything is perfect at this moment - except for one tiny omission - I didn‘t grab my book before I got into the hammock and it‘s a lot of work to get out. 😜
2 finds today. I LOVED/ADORED Donoghue‘s short story collection Astray, so I picked the tagged book up without hesitation.

I love all of Emma Donoghue's short story collections! I'm quite partial to her historical fiction stories where she finds an interesting, quirky or queer piece of archival information and builds a story around it. I do love her contemporary fiction as well. 💗📚 #booktober #shortstories #queerbooks
pickThis was a great collection of short stories. Very different to Room, in context and in style, this nonetheless drew me in. I loved the premise that Donoghue had based each story on scraps of forgotten historical information. 'The Fox on the Line', 'Night Vision' and 'Cured' were standouts for me.
When your colleagues are your spirit animals when it comes to reading it is pretty great. You get to share great charity shop finds like this 😍
