Frankencrayon | Michael Hall
6 posts | 6 read | 2 to read
Ingenuity and surprise rule in this funny and colorful companion to Red: A Crayon’s Story written and illustrated by Michael Hall, the New York Times–bestselling creator of My Heart Is Like a Zoo. The crayons are ready to tell the thrilling tale of Frankencrayon. The costumes are made, the roles are cast, the pages are all set—but then disaster strikes. Someone has scribbled on the page! Hideous! Horrifying! The story can’t go on! Try as they might, the crayons can’t erase the scribble, and this picture book must be canceled. Until the crayons playing the title role of Frankencrayon think of a solution, that is. Michael Hall breaks borders and invites readers behind the scenes with his irresistible, clever style and bold artwork. A book about seeing beauty in unexpected places and the magic of storytelling.

LizzettM I like how you included the authors website this is a great tool when educating students on different books(: 5y
Ryan_R This book looks so cute! I love the inclusion of the authors website! Especially after all the time we‘ve spent learning about different authors! 5y
Kayla_C Jenny, once again another one of your posts caught my attention. This looks like another book we can co-read with The Day the Crayons Quit. Students would definitely love this book. 5y
DrSpalding Again I liked that you chose the author website however you need to connect these resources to what you would do in your classroom. You have identified numerous teaching strategies but need to expand on how you would use the book in your own classroom. 5y

Michael Hall wrote an amazing F story that is PERFECT for a Halloween RA or RT. This is a theatrical production of crayons and their story that gets ruined by the scribble... assetlibrary.supadu.com had an awesome Frankencrayon activity already created for students and teachers. UDL 3.1 to activate or supply background knowledge is a great accompany you the original Frankenstein. ESOL 5.2. #ucflae3414sp20

Agavitt1 I checked out the activity you listed and it seems like it would be a lot of fun to do in class! 5y
KatiaP This is probably a helpful book to help children learn to not scribble. Sounds like a super cute story to read around Halloween time. 5y
KarliCrean Ugh! I love all the crayon books, but i have not read that one yet. I am putting this book on my list to read 5y
DrSpalding You let me borrow this one! It is a very cute story and one that I could see you using in an entire unit on crayons! There‘s so much you could do! Literacy, science… And go to the Crayola Factory on a field trip! 5y

Gina What a sweet muchkin. One of my all time favorites children's books is The Three Questions by Jon J Muth. It's narrative is beautiful as is the watercolor paintings within. 8y

I really wanted to like this story, but no such luck. Some crayons were hired to create a picture book, but it was canceled when a monster drew a scribble. The Frankercrayon helped the scribble get away. The story is confusing, and At the same time, it's not nonsense enough to be funny.
