How to See
How to See | Thich Nhat Hanh
6 posts | 6 read | 5 to read
How can we let go of illusion and see ourselves as we really are? Profound and always approachable, Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh teaches us the art of looking deeply-in to our knee-jerk assumptions and runaway thoughts-so we can recognize the true meaning and essence of our lives. The Mindfulness Essentials series is a back-to-basics collection from world-renowned Zen master Thich Nhath Hanh that introduces everyone to the essentials of mindfulness practice. In this seventh pocket-sized How To book, Thich Nhat Hanh teases apart the act of seeing-both inside and outside of ourselves, and points the way to developing true clarity in our lives. Written with his signature warmth, these pithy meditations are accompanied by playful sumi-ink drawings by California artist Jason DeAntonis.

Another quick little mindfulness read to cleanse my pallete before diving into my next couple of books. Pictured with my Mala beads, which I've been incorporating into my meditation practice, as well as a few other books from the series. I highly recommend these books if you want something quick and simple, but full of positivity and tips on how to live a more mindful life ✌🏾😌✌🏾

I read this Apr 1-4 & rated it 4 ⭐️. So far this is probably the best in the “How to” books by Thich Nhat Hanh. This book really focuses on reminding the reader that when you look at anything you have to realize that it is part of a whole.

Hmmm. This book is #150. 3 Full Months left in the year. Do I up my number or just see how many I end up with? 🤔

I enjoy this series because they are short yet powerful reads.

"It is very easy to confuse our mental image of something with its reality. It is important not to be too sure about our perceptions."

I took the photo in the garden of a Buddhist retreat on Holy Isle, Arran (as a day visitor, not as a resident). The quoted passage from Hanh's book seems to be another aspect of the same sentiment.
