His name was Feliks. He came to London to commit a murder that would change history. A master manipulator, he had many weapons at his command, but against him were ranged the whole of the English police, a brilliant and powerful lord, and the young Winston Churchill himself...

1914 - this book is about England and France, right before the war, wanting Russia‘s support against Germany. The Earl of Walden and Churchill await a Romanov envoy, Prince Orlov. Felix, son of a Russian priest, wants to kill Orlov. Full of action, deadly suspense and haunting romance, this book will not let you go until the very intense ending. Follett is an excellent writer and does not disappoint. Highly recommended!

Have started The Man From St Petersburg by Ken Follett which I am reading with @EadieB and @Tove_Reads
Another winner from this master storyteller. If you enjoyed The Century Trilogy, and who wouldn‘t, you‘ll love this. It has a similar feel and covers the same period as the start of the Century Trilogy.

Freespirit Love his books! 6mo
Andrew65 @Freespirit I agree, yet to read one I didn‘t love! 6mo
Crazeedi I've never read one I didnt love 6mo

mommyincolor I've read the Century trilogy by Follett. He's very good at historical fiction. 6mo
Andrew65 @mommyincolor He definitely is. I also recommend The Pillars of The Earth Trilogy if you haven‘t read them. Big books in many ways. 6mo

I was initially skeptical about this one. Historical fiction is not my favorite genre. However, this was a pleasant surprise! Perfect blend of life, love, and drama in a historical setting...such an underrated book!
Overall Score 5.0/5.0

I enjoyed this book. It is set in London in the events leading to the beginning of WW1. I love the differing perspectives, and that Follett does not depict one as superior over another. An interesting mix of personal stories - such as the coming of age plot line of Charlotte - with bigger pictures, such as the suffragette movement.

A little action, a little sex, a little intrigue, a little history... all in all, a great last book of 2016!

@RealLifeReading
Here are my best new reads for #bestofdecember for #seasonsreadings2016
I also reread a couple other great ones, but I loved the Whedon biography. I haven't quite finished the Follet yet, but I'm trying! And I love it so far.
