This was good and unpredictable
My February #bookspin was a dud. I have read a lot of Nicci French and have loved a lot of it, but this one - about a married woman who discovers the body of her lover and decides to clean up instead of calling the cops is just ridiculous. I did all my eye-rolling practice for the month with this one.

This is a quick, entertaining read. It begins with Neve finding the body of her lover and choosing to protect her family (and herself) by the cleaning all traces of herself from the apartment. It's a stupid thing to do but I can understand her impulse. However, she leaves no evidence for the police so they have no leads on the murderer. Neve's emotional roller coaster for the remainder of the story is well done as she wonders if her husband, ⬇️
Loved this book so much!! Kept me wanting more!! A great Thriller book!!
Starting Book 7 of January and Book 7 of 2020!!
Thank you to @LibraryThing for sending me this Arc copy back in August!!!
This was an interesting thriller. The basic plot was simple to follow and I never guessed the truth but it didn't thrill me as much as I thought. Although I understood Neve's needs to lie, I hoped she would eventually come clean. The story was good but the ending was a bit too tame for me. I wanted a bigger showdown. It's a slow build with a quick hint of action to end the story. #Netgalley first book of 2020.
TODAY‘S BOOK MAIL!!

Neve Connolly was having an affair but now Saul has been murdered. She cleans all traces of her visits after she finds Saul‘s body. Inspector Alastair Hitching is trying to find out why his investigation leads him constantly back to Neve. Are her lies catching up to her or is it something in her past? Read this book to find out all the answers to who killed Saul and why Neve is lying so much. Recommended!
In the first 17 pages of this book an affair is revealed, a murder is committed , and a cover up begins. This a is well paced story filled with twists, turns, and a truly unexpected ending. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. Total reading time: 3.5 hours #24B4Monday #Teamslaughter.
This was only my second Nicci French book but I really enjoyed it. Neve risks a 29-year marriage on an affair with her married boss & when she finds him dead, scrubs the crime scene in hopes of keeping the affair secret. Good pacing, twists & turns that had me guessing & although I didn‘t start out liking Neve that much, I was rooting for her by the end. In my current read for book tour review you could say #TheRingGoesSouth when Neve puts her twenty-year marriage in jeopardy for an affair. With her married boss. Who is found dead. 😱 (Probably would work for tomorrow‘s prompt too!) 😉
