For #LetterH #alphabetgame I recommend the Hexworld series by Jordan Hawk. It takes place in a gritty alternate New York of the early Industrial Age. With magic, were-animals, and a m/m romance. Highly recommend.

Absolutely loved the world building in this book, it was different to a lot of urban fantasy mythos and I really enjoyed it
The main characters were interesting but dumb as bricks in an endearing way so I didn't mind too much
My #bookspin for December @TheAromaofBooks
2/5⭐ It started off okay, with interesting, often amusing characters and the potential for a compelling mystery. But the worldbuilding was severely lacking, and in the last few chapters every single point of conflict, both internal and external, was "resolved" in a cop-out way so that the characters didn't actually have to struggle to overcome them.
This book isn't in the database so I tagged the first in the series. This book just came out and I can't wait to return to this world: magic, shape shifting familiars, turn of the previous century New York, m/m romance, conspiracies, and government corruption... what's not to love?
The ebook for this one is on sale for 99 cents. Perfect timing because there‘s another book out tomorrow. Much like Whyborne & Griffith (I posted about Balefire last night) this series is m|m with magic. It takes place primarily in England and the magical system uses familiars (who are shifters). This sets up possibilities for discrimination, etc. so it has more opportunities to address social issues. Overall, another good series.
I've read almost all of Jordan Hawk's books and I'm thrilled to find out that Hexslayer is out next month (third book in this series). Shifters that enable magic (familiars) is the universe for this one. I should probably do a better job of watching series I'm reading.
(4 stars) Three Thoughts 1) A few friends recommended this series to me but I was totally unprepared for how much I'd love it! 2) what a unique world! Loved the combination of magic and historical and witches and familiars and just everything! 3) great chemistry between the leads and I was so sad for this story to end!
I love Jordan L Hawk. This new series does not disappoint.
