Interesting premise, and I love most of it, but it gets distracted and poorly executes some side concepts.

To protest inadequate wages for dangerous work, the girls and women who work the Lowell mills go on strike and sign a magical pact with one another to help them all stay strong in the face of pressure that might cause them to break with the strike. A thoughtful historical fantasy. I did wish there was more world building to establish the setting more. This was my other #Roll100 read this month.

A delightful novella that showcases the hardships of millwork in 19th century Lowell, Massachusetts, with a touch of fantasy. I enjoyed the storyline very much, with a cast of characters that reflect well on the typical female mill worker in these horrific mills. As with any fictional tale, it makes me want to learn more about the reality (I do know some, but I‘m always interested in learning more).

What would happen if witchcraft was a factor during mill strikes? This short story wonderfully weaves fact and fantasy for a thought-provoking tale. #therebewitches #csmalerich

This quick-read novella looks at a group of young women striking for better factory conditions in Lowell, MA. Oh, and they just happen to use a little witchcraft to help their cause. It‘s a nice little look at female empowerment and friendships in a single-serving read.

Tried to take a festive pic with cookies, but got a bit photo bombed! 😆

I really enjoyed this one! Short and riveting. I mean, a history I‘ve always been fascinated by + witches? Sign me up every time!

Witchcraft and worker's rights combine in this speculative alternate history novella about the cotton mill girls of Lowell going on strike. A fun, quick read with some witchy vibes for fall.
