Donoghue tells the story from the perspective of multiple characters, before real and fictional characters, including an anarchist with a deadly plot in mind. Life has been so difficult lately, even more complicated with the horribleness in the world. But, at least in my tiny little part of my world, things may be getting better. May…every time I think we‘re good, we‘re not.

Xander is back 100%; his not so good blood results are still in the back of my mind.

Xander had his yearly cardiology appointment today—for those of you who do not know, Xander was born with a heart defect and will always have a heart murmur.
We got tough news today: two of his heart chambers has more fluid than they should. He‘s not in the danger “zone,” but his condition has been now moved to the stage preceding danger. ⬇️⬇️⬇️
pickThere are a few gem reflections in this, a book that purposely asks the reader to take their time reading. It‘s reflective and calming. Admittedly, there were a few times I did not quite agree with the author‘s musings, but that may be the point—it opens for good discussion. Overall, a lovely book. Great pick for the #MidWinterSolace #BuddyRead !

pickA whispering statue that looks like Nancy Drew. A collection of rare books that are involved in a swindle. Nancy again has two mysteries to solve, going undercover to collect the clues. This one is much better than the prior book in the series. And, like Bess, I really want a fudge sundae now.

pickI needed a super-fast read and a palate cleanser…Charlie and Diesel were the perfect choice!
A nasty, cruel boss, terrible department heads, and murders keep Charlie and Diesel pretty busy at the library. Sad to say a few characteristics of the murder victim are characteristics I witnessed in my library career. Yikes! Great character progression, and another good series entry!
Most of my sidekicks hovered in the background as I finished it.
