A well researched historical fiction book.
Set in three different eras in history, this story follows Eli Rosen, a prominent Jewish merchant in Poland. Living in Łódź, Poland at the beginning of WW11, his wife, young son and himself are swept up in the Nazi machine. Trusting his fate to a shadowy figure in exchange for protection, his world slowly falls apart, and at the close of the war, Eli spends almost 2 decades hunting the man who sacrificed his family. An at times bittersweet tale.
HAPPY PUB DAY!!
Ronald Balson has written another marvelous but heartbreaking story that begins in 1939 and ends in 1966.
Another well written book you won't want to miss if you are a fan of Mr. Balson and historical fiction. 4/5

Historical Fiction set during WWII and the 1960's. Researched quite well, at times it felt like reading a history textbook, but I love history, so that didn't bother me but it might some. Comes out September 22nd.
Thanks Netgalley for the Kindle version of the book for my honest opinion and thoughts.
THANK YOU, Sarah Schoof of @stmartinspress

How many of you read a ton of Historical Fiction? Seems to me that most popular book/authors delve into WWII. I‘ve only read two books based in the US in the last few years that aren‘t WWII related. White City, and a book, I can‘t remember its name, based in New York during the Prohibition. This book, Eli‘s Promise is also WWII.
Which Historical Fiction have you read that isn‘t WWII?
This was an ARC from #netgalley. The author of this book early did his research. This may explain why the novel feels like a history textbook. There are a lot of facts within the story. Even when the characters speak to one another, they resemble actors in a commercial for medicine attempting to incorporate side effects and medical facts into a normal conversation. There are multiple timelines which kept me interested and invested in the story.
