I'm giving this a Pick rather than a So - So because it's a anthology. As per usual, some are great and some are just not my style. Of course I loved the 'Bennets and Bingleys and Bitches' Quiz. Lani Diane Rich's 'My Firth Love' is hilarious. Which brings me to IMHO book's problem. It's dated. Copyright 2005 - Pre Matthew/Kiera P & P. No #whoseyourdarcy. Cellphones are talked of, but Social Media is so much more now. #austeninaugust #tbr

Solidly in the middling category. The essays were rather uneven (a blindingly terrible essay about Austen and war was followed by one by Jo Beverly who clearly did all HER research) and the back half of the book was Pride and Prejudice fanfic, some good, some not very good. Fun to read though.

(Otoh, not wild about the "chick lit" appellation that kept cropping up.)

First three essays, pretty good. This essay, number 4? Terrible. The author makes a lot of spurious assumptions and non-equivalent comparisons - how did he get invited to write for this collection anyway? 😒
