12 posts | 3 read | 2 to read
Evan Walls is terrified by the birth of his first child because he doesn't want her to suffer the isolation he had as a child. Seeing his torment, his wife, Izzy, prods him to explain. He tells of being a black child growing up in the racially charged 1960s.

This book was sad & eye-opening. Some complex topics of race & family made for a lively bookclub discussion!

1. The Emancipation of Evan Walls has stuck with me since I read it. 1. My first attempt at making a porch sign/leaner. I had an old shutter that I painted. 3. Remember the Titans takes place during the fall. It‘s one of my favorites. @Eggs #WondrousWednesday

Eggs Love your deco-shutters they are so useful!! Thanks for playing 🍁🎃📚 4y

Author Jeffrey Blount joined our Zoom book club meeting this evening! It was an awesome experience. The book is excellent! Don‘t mind me in the bottom left corner, as I was eating.😂😂 I wasn‘t able to get all members in the pic.

Blueberry How cool 😀 5y
S3V3N @Blueberry It was an awesome experience. We were able to ask questions about how the story was developed, etc. He showed us the stack of research used to develop the story. I‘m in awe. 5y
Nute OMG! Very cool. How was it arranged? Is he a local author to your area? 5y
S3V3N @Nute he reached out to me on Instagram. I had started following him and he followed back. We are reading his other book Almost Snow White and he will join us again. If you are on Instagram check him out. He has joined several book clubs via zoom about this book. 5y

#Two4Tuesday
1. I started reading for pleasure in elementary school. There was a monthly book program that we could order from and I always bought 4 or more chapter books.
2. Everyone should read The Emancipation of Evan Walls. I can‘t stop thinking about it. @TheSpineView

It started off slow for me. After a quarter of the way in it picked up. Heartbreaking for the most part. It ended being a great book.

My signed copy! The author commented on my Instagram post so I asked how I could purchase a signed copy of his book! I plan to start this one this evening.
