pickWhat a slow start... This was 50 pages longer than it needed to be. Even once things picked up, there were still places where it a slog. I enjoyed the story line in this one more than The Home For Unwanted Girls. The timeframe Goodman sets this in was really interesting and a new one for me, giving it a nice change of pace from most historical fiction.
This could be a standalone, but it's better if you read The Home For Unwanted Girls first.
