pickJoe Pickett once again gets himself caught in the middle of something that crosses the line between Game Warden business and the Sheriff's responsibility. I like Joe and his family, and I enjoy watching him spar with local law enforcement while getting himself into sticky situations. I look forward to reading more of the series.

Joe Pickett is a game warden near Saddlestring Wyoming. Stewie Woods and his bride, Annabel Belotti, are killed by an exploding cow. Other environmental activists are also killed and Joe is left to figure out the good guys from the bad. I loved all the descriptions of Wyoming‘s wilderness, weather and geography. I‘m looking forward to reading the 3rd book and would recommend this series to those who love the great outdoors!
pickThe second of Pickett series and the second I have read. I am growing to like Joe Pickett more and more. The stories are a little predictable in some ways but entirely engaging too. I will continue to read the series over time. They are great summer reading.

pickSO SO GOOD! CJ Box is up at the top of my mystery/suspense/thriller list along with Karin Slaughter and Michael Connelly. Joe Pickett is a solid lead and in this second book, I‘m seeing his growth. His flaw is his inexperience as a WY game warden, but his integrity and love for the job, his family, and the land make these modern day Westerns EVERYTHING. This is a gritty story-the deaths and bad guys are really bad. But OH YES, this is a solid 5⭐️.
My current read 🙌🏻 I love Joe Pickett and I love the Wyoming setting. This is a murder mystery featuring big-time environmentalists vs big-time ranchers. Can‘t wait to see how it turns out.
pickI am enjoying this western murder mystery series. Box does a great job tying in the rugged Wyoming landscape while he weaves his tale. This is a quick easy read but the author can be pretty brutal with the murders. This is book 2 and I am seeing him grow as a writer. I look forward to book 3 of the Joe Picket, Game Warden saga.

pickNo one is safe in a CJ Box novel. This novel pits environmentalists against ranchers, with game warden Joe Pickett squarely in the middle. It features beautiful scenery thoughtful dialog, and some interesting history. Don't assume all historical context is factual though. For example, the story of how Savage Run Canyon got its name is apparently completely fictional (I google too much when I read), but more interesting than the real story
So... I'm halfway through the 2nd Joe Pickett novel, enjoying it, and I decide to take it with me on a car ride to a concert. I'm the DD on the ride home, and someone in the backseat barfs all over it. *sigh*
