Delicate Deception
Delicate Deception | Cat Sebastian
12 posts | 10 read | 9 to read
When Amelia Allenby escaped a stifling London ballroom for the quiet solitude of the Derbyshire countryside, the very last thing she wanted was an extremely large, if--she grudgingly admits--passably attractive man disturbing her daily walks. Lecturing the surveyor about property rights doesn't work and, somehow, he has soon charmed his way into lemon cakes, long walks, and dangerously heady kisses. The very last place Sydney wished to be was in the shadow of the ruins of Pelham Hall, the inherited property that stole everything from him. But as he awaits his old friend, the Duke of Hereford, he finds himself increasingly captivated by the maddeningly lovely and exceptionally odd Amelia. He quickly finds that keeping his ownership of Pelham Hall a secret is as impossible as keeping himself from falling in love with her.But when the Duke of Hereford arrives, Sydney's ruse is revealed and what started out as a delicate deception has become a love too powerful to ignore. Will they let a lifetime of hurt come between them or can these two lost souls find love and peace in each other?

A lovely bi-for-bi romance about two oddballs with social anxiety finding each other and making a little found family for themselves, their queer (ace and gay, respectively) best friends, a couple dogs, and a quirky little French kid. Just so lovely, there's no other way to describe it. #QueerBooks #LGBTQBooks #LGBTQ #BisexualBooks #Romantsy

A woman leaves London to escape city life. She goes on meandering countryside walks and a man keeps getting in her way. Eventually they walk a bit together...then talk..then share lemon cake...then make out. But all this time she thinks he's a land surveyor, but we know he's a Duke because this my friends is a book with a gown on the cover 💃🏻

This is the final volume of The Regency Imposters series. This tells the story of Amelia, who was a supporting character in the first two books and Sydney, a bisexual nobleman recovering from a family tragedy and a torrid love affair he had with another man. This is perhaps the most unique historical romance I‘ve ever read; it explores issues of anxiety, sexual orientation, and the very nature of romantic love itself with an unconventional ending.

I liked the idea of a bisexual heroine with social anxiety falling for a bisexual Quaker civil engineer while encouraging her asexual companion to find her own happiness. But overall the romances didn‘t work for me and it felt rather slow.

I was so excited when I saw this #audiobook pop up as a "skip-the-line" copy in Libby! But a few minutes in I am bailing because I am really bouncing off the voice actor's voice. Oh well, I guess I'll have to read it in print! #Romantsy #QueerBooks #BisexualBooks

AlaMich I keep meaning to read one of her books, and lately I‘ve been coming across a lot of references to her. I think the universe is trying to tell me something! 😊 5y
CaseyTheCanadianLesbrarian @AlaMich I loved the first book in this series, Unmasked by the Marquess. Cat Sebastian has great queer Regency romances! 5y

This was another lovely book by the wonderful Cat Sebastian. She has created amazing lgtbq+ period romance books. It is also great to read introverted characters. I highly recommend! #romantsy

Finished this this morning and BOY I loved it! Not just about romance (which was delightful and charming and lovely), but about the ability to build communities outside of heteronormativity. Love this series and I hope Cat Sebastian returns to it.

Also, Sydney worrying that he's the sort of person that people don't develop deep feelings for, the sort of person who gets forgotten... well, it's a personal attack! How dare!!!

I love it when a preorder arrives - it‘s like a treat from PastYou. And I need a treat this week - it‘s a general election here in the UK and I am incredibly busy at work.

And that UK location means I have the alternative title for this by the looks of it!

Traveling back to SD. Sitting in the airport and reading an ARC of Cat Sebastian's next book. This one feels like it's going to be a 5 star read. I'm enjoying the characters immensely. #romantsy
