A professional spy for a mysterious Library which harvests fiction from different realities, Irene faces a series of assassination attempts that threaten to destroy her and everything she has worked for. Irene is teaching her new assistant the fundamentals of a Librarian's job, and finding that training a young Fae is more difficult than she expected. But when they're the targets of kidnapping and assassination attempts, she decides that learning by doing is the only option they have left ... In order to protect themselves, Irene and her friends must do what they do best: search for information to defeat the overwhelming threat they face and identify their unseen enemy. To do that, Irene will have to delve deeper into her own history than she ever has before, face an ancient foe, and uncover secrets that will change her life and the course of the Library forever.

Exhausting and entertaining, as usual! There were a few things about this particular entry in the series that made me love it just a little bit more. The Victorian steam punk-mad scientist-masked ball atmosphere of the Grand Technological Exhibition and the techno-gothic atmosphere of the Sagrada Familia cathedral were truly gorgeous set pieces for the rapidly developing action leading to the climax. 1/?

Robotswithpersonality 2/? Catherine's shift from annoyance to asset and possible friend, all with the highly relatable enthusiasm for librarianship. Satisfying defeats of certain villains, and a confirmation about something teased throughout the series. The hints in the epilogue about where the story will go next... 3w
Robotswithpersonality 3/3 I do remain relieved that it appears there's only one more book in this series. For all that Cogman does insufferable villains, teeth-grinding politics and agonizing interpersonal drama extremely well, I don't think I could face a large number of books prior to the ultimate end. Of course my opinion will shift dramatically if that last book doesn't complete the series with satisfying endings for all characters. 🤨 (edited) 3w

Another 2022 read.
These books are amazing! The worlds Cogman creates are the perfect place for book lovers. Her characters are likeable, people you'd like to be or know.
And while the stories are for sure formulaic at this point, this one was still as enjoyable as all the others.
If you haven't yet, go grab book one and adventure on!

I finally read a paper book! 😅 I adore this series and am slowly collecting them all, as I thoroughly enjoy rereading them. The plot thickens under in this installment, the usual chaos ensues and the stakes are even more life threatening. You need to start at book one with these, but if you love the fantasy/mystery mash up genre, they‘re well worthwhile. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

Mitch Ive got book 1 on my shelf... must bring it closer to the top of the TBR! 3y

"I want to be the sort of librarian who curates books, who loves them & cares for them & shares them with other people. I want to welcome little children into the library & hand them books which will make their imaginations blossom. I want to find the books people have spent their lives looking for, to help them achieve the things they were always meant to do." -Catherine

This is the 7th book in this series and the whole gang are at it again! Irene, Kai, Vale and now new apprentice Catherine who is Fae and niece to Lord Silver. It seems a certain person from the past is back and intent on killing Irene and her friends! I do love this purple cover! #books

Lmstraubie I love this series and just started this one. However my cover is a dark turquoise. I love the rich colors they choose. 4y

5/5💚s

So I was soooo excited about the 7th book in the Invisible Library series that I didn‘t even share that I was reading it. 😅 Finally my suspicions were confirmed but a whole other level of WTF hits you at the end. 😬 Can‘t wait for #8!!!

emz711 You're reminding me about this series! Held at the library! Thanks 4y

I knew iiiiit.

I'm sort of okay with the characters that were brought back into things, in the end; I thought I'd be annoyed, but it only makes sense.

And ooof that ending. Fun addition to the series, as expected.

Hey everyone! One of my resolutions for 2021 is to spend more time doing things that make me happy and less time working. But that's pretty general, so one of the SPECIFIC resolutions that will help shape that is to come here and post what I'm reading every. single. day.

So hi! I'm racing through The Dark Archive right now, but I'm a bit... not sure about the reintroduction of previous characters. We'll see what the explanation is!

Clare-Dragonfly I‘m delighted by this resolution! It‘s always good to see you here, and I‘m so happy you‘re doing things that make you happy 😊 4y
shanaqui @Clare-Dragonfly I realised that one of the things I really missed in having more work hours and commitments was just messing around on Litsy/Pillowfort/Dreamwidth and connecting with people, so I'm making it a priority this year! 4y

My latest buys! The non-fiction will have to wait until next year, but I may try to read The Dark Archive, the 7th book in the Invisible Library series! #tbr
