Another of Junji Ito's classics, the sci-fi masterwork Remina tells the chilling tale of a hell star. An unknown planet emerges from inside a wormhole, and its discoverer, Dr. Oguro, christens the celestial body "Remina" after his own daughter. His finding is met with great fanfare, and Remina herself rises to fame. However, the planet picks up speed as it moves along in its curious orbit, eliminating planets and stars one after another until finally Earth itself faces extinction Is the girl Remina the true cause of the catastrophe? A masterwork of horror from Junji Ito, unfolding on a universal scale.

This book was disturbing, mainly for the fact of how awful people were acting when they knew the world was going to end. The first half was pretty interesting. The second half just got crazy. Because this was a story of a sentient planet, I just went with it. I hate to say it was unrealistic, but that's how it felt, especially when the planet was spinning towards the end. The imagery was stunning. 4 stars

As always with Junji Ito, beautiful and weird.

Remina is a girl and a world-eating planet. When the world eater comes for Earth, people decide killing the girl will appease the world eater and save them.

Mass hysteria ensues and Remina spends most of the book running away from crazy people, but I think the ending was so satisfying 😌

If you like the work of Junji Ito, you'll love Remina. It's a short but not so sweet story!
A new planet is discovered, entering our solar system. The world is stunned and everyone wants to know more about this mysterious body in space. Soon interest turns into anxiety turns into madness and the world violently changes.

I gave it 3/5 ⭐ just because some scenes (like the chase) felt a little too long.

Of course the true test is to see how it handles Ito (with some spot color editing)

I'm suprised this didn't happen in 2020.
As always Itos strange imagination takes over and you are transfered into the story.
Poor Remina

A sentient planet named after a Japanese girl named Remina hurtles towards Earth. Some believe the only path to salvation lies in sacrificing the girl... fabulously creepy drawings, a real page turner.
