Fleeing a bad relationship, Roddy Waite returns to his home town where he gets a job as a baker in a coffee shop and lodges with a coworker who is leaving the family farm to become a graphic designer.
Despite it being the first in a series following different characters but all set in Vermont, I didn't feel any sense of place. It could have been anywhere. Still, it was an enjoyable quick read that didn't need any great powers of concentration.
Roderick has moved back to Vermont after he left his, in the closet, Country superstar boyfriend. He needs a job which he gets at a bakery. He needs a place to stay which he gets by way of his moody coworker Kieran. This was good and angsty, and cute when Roderick teaches Kieran how to cook. But can Roderick, who describes himself as gay AF, survive going back into another closet for love? Good stuff. 👇🏼
I think a great book has perfectly flawed characters that grow and change. And this book was such a beautiful example of that.
Roderick and Kieran are both messed up in their own ways. Roderick left town years ago when his parents kicked him out for being gay. He‘s back in his hometown after leaving a disaster of a relationship that makes him question his own importance.
Loved this. M/M romance with ❤️🔥 and 🍞. Pity Sarina Bowen has an established cover style - this could have been #BakedGoodsOnCover for #Booked2021😂
