'This book inflicts more shocks than an electric fence.' Daily Mail Charley has a strange feeling when she sees the idyllic mill house with its cluster of outbuildings, the lake and the swirling mill stream; a powerful sense of recognition, as if she has been there before. Except she knows she hasn't. After Charley and her husband Tom move into Elmwood Mill, sinister memories of a previous existence start to haunt her. Despite both their attempts to dismiss everything with rational explanations, the feeling turns to certainty as the memories become increasingly vivid and terrifying. Charley is persuaded to undergo hypnosis - but in searching deep into her past, she will soon fear her future. 'James has been compared with Stephen King, but in many ways he's better.' Daily Express 'Peter James is getting better with every book.' Times

This was a good book, but for the love of all that‘s holy, can‘t we let the dogs survive the book?

Charley and Tom are moving to the country for a fresh start, but Charley feels like she‘s been to their new house before. She goes through hypnosis to discover her past life, but may not like what she finds.

EadieB To kill dogs in a book seems like a bad idea! 3y
Jadams89 @EadieB it‘s just one of those things I despise, but it does show up a lot in horror 3y
Jadams89 @laurenashley this is headed your way! 3y

Mehso-so

Omg I FINALLY finished a book this month 😭

This was definitely a slow burn. It didn‘t ramp up for me until almost halfway. However the suspense at the end was excellent! The main thing keeping this from getting a higher score is the animal deaths. I also wasn‘t a huge fan of how the female characters were written however this was written in 1990 so it‘s definitely a bit dated. Overall this was a very interesting story!

EadieB @magyklyXdelish I agree with your review - it is a bit dated. I don't care for reading about killing animals either but do find it a lot in the horror genre. The ending was definitely the best part of the book. Now we have to wait and see how the others feel about the book. I love hearing everyone's comments. 3y
magyklyXdelish @EadieB I‘ve always been hugely fascinated with the idea of reincarnation so this one was definitely right up my alley! It‘s just those poor doggos 😭 I can read gruesome deaths of humans all day but animals make me sad lol 3y

EadieB @magyklyXdelish I can understand that! My daughter is a veterinarian and I lived with the fact that you do not hurt animals no way, no how! I can read about brutal murders but cannot watch them on TV. 3y
magyklyXdelish @EadieB that‘s how I am too especially with horror. Horror is probably my favorite genre of book but I can‘t watch horror movies without being a little baby! 3y
TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!! 3y
magyklyXdelish @Jadams1776 I mailed this one out to you on Saturday 🤗 3y

We have a Salt/Sauna close to us that I am obsessed with. After using the (personal) sauna I got some reading done in this relaxing salt room. After the last few weeks I had this was much needed. If such a place exists by you I couldn‘t recommend it enough ♥️

It‘s been 7 days and I‘m still not even halfway through one book. I‘ve been getting super distracted lately and sleeping a lot. I did have about an hour of reading outside 2 days ago where I also read these wonderful letters that made me feel better. I‘m thankful for this site that has introduced me to some of the kindest people.

Now if I could just motivate myself to stay focused on reading and watching less tiktok videos lol 😆

This is a well-written horror book from Peter James. I picked this to read for #LMPBC #GroupH #Round11. Charley and her husband, Tom, move to an idyllic mill house where a powerful sense tells Charley that she has been here before in a previous existence. She is regressed under hypnosis and a Pandora‘s box of evil and terror is released. James knows how to build tension and kept the pages turning. I will be reading more of his horror books soon.

Jadams89 Woohoo! Does anyone have a preferred pen color? @magyklyXdelish @laurenashley (edited) 3y
EadieB @Jadams1776 I have red pen that I have been using. 3y

Jadams89 I normally use a light blue one. But I can always switch it up. I have an embarrassing amount of pens 😂 3y
EadieB @Jadams1776 I also have a purple pen I could use too. Of course black and dark blue are common. Any color would be fine as long as it's different from what has already been used when you get the book. Check above - I also included who we send our book to at the end of March. (edited) 3y
Jadams89 Nice thanks for that! I got so confused last round (it was my first round) 3y
EadieB @Jadams1776 I printed out the information and I keep it in my book journal as a reminder. 3y
magyklyXdelish @Jadams1776 I too have a crap load of pens. I usually do pink green or orange. But I honestly just pick one that‘s different from what‘s already in the book when I get it. 3y
EadieB @magyklyXdelish That makes perfect sense! 3y
