1: I think there is. Most writers just write for themselves. Authors would like their work published and noticed but each should be valued.
2: I do write but mostly for me. Used to write fanfiction when younger. I do have a dodgy part done romance novel that makes me cringe.

So all my other posts were basically to say, the 2021 contest is NOW open. You have to have entries in by May 31.
You have to live in Illinois. We were the first, but it lead to Indie Author Project and now lots of states have one of these that leads into a national competition!. You should really check it out.
