I enjoyed this collection. Would like to read more of her work.
A bit of poetry and truth this evening
My first time reading Maggie Smith. She‘s got quite a way with words. ❤️
I had high hopes for this collection because I've enjoyed other works by Maggie Smith, but this fell flat for me. I may not have been in the right frame of mind for it, or it may be because many of the poems are about motherhood and I don't have children. I did enjoy some of the poems very much; the one above is my favorite. #poetry

Finished the first row. #sundaybuddyread #audiomystery #policeprocedural
Row 2: #audiomystery #Scottishwhisky #cozy #poetry- in various stages.
Row 3: #sophiesworld #philosophy #HillegardofBinten- invarious stages; all related to Sophies World - reading 2 ch per week.
Something Maggie and I once talked about was how her poems try to turn their faces toward the light. Do I detect more of a struggle to that turn in these poems? Or is it me that‘s struggling? It‘s hard to say. Many of these poems are about personal struggle—divorce and it‘s aftermath, in particular—or about an anxiety or sadness about the world. I feel in them a reflection of my own struggles, anxiety, and sadness, for which I‘m grateful.
Maggie Smith can do no wrong! Cannot wait to dive in to this one that just came in the mail.
Motherhood and the struggles of raising kids in a complex, unforgiving dangerous world figure prominently in this collection of poems which searches for love, hope, and kindness. Her poems find beauty in the everyday, in flowers, in the human, and even in foibles like autocorrect.
[I received an advanced e-galley from #Netgalley. The book is due to be published July 21, 2021.]
Forgive me while I SCREAM OVER THIS GALLEY OFFER FOR MAGGIE SMITH'S UPCOMING POETRY COLLECTION 🤯🥰
Sorry for yelling 😉 but this was a top pre-order for me after I read and re-read... (and re-read again!!) GOOD BONES earlier this year 😍
Beyond excited to have the opportunity to read an ARC!
