so-soI've loved so many of Jesse Q. Sutanto's mysteries-- Dial A For Aunties and Vera Wong's Unsolicited Advice for Murderers, anyone?--so I was dissapointed when this one didn't live up to my expectations. Perfectly find YA thriller; it just didn't have the same fun writing and incredible, lovable characters I've come to enjoy in many of her books.
pick41 of 2021. The new girl arrives at a prestigous academy on a track scholorship. She soon becomes entangled in drama on the campus that may lead to deadly consequences. This was a quick fun read. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
pickA decent YA thriller, but I did like The Obsession much more. It was way easy to figure out the villain! It didn‘t take away any enjoyment for me though, and there were some good twists.

so-soEvery time I pick up a YA book, I remember why I don‘t like YA books. I just can‘t with the drama. I didn‘t know this was YA when I suggested it for the library and so here we are. It‘s great, for a YA thriller, I think? It‘s got some good laugh-out-loud bits, weaves in current issues nicely, and plows along at a rapid pace. I do have a question about the ending (will put in comments) if any one else has read this.

pickAfter a slightly rocky start I ended up really getting into this one. A wild, but enjoyable, ride.
pickThis was fun, but definitely a ya novel; so many times I was just screaming at her in my head. This had a large amount of twists and turns, making it a fun and fast read. Luckily, there wasn‘t too many twists and a limited cast of characters, making everything easy to follow along and keep track of. But also, it was hella easy to know who was gonna end up the villain. Like, from the first chapter you had to have seen that coming.

The New Girl has the same smart sarcasm and quick witted and quick paced writing that I loved in her romance series. This one is scheduled for publication just in time for me to send a copy to my niece for her upcoming birthday. #ARC #netgalley
