The Antique Hunter's Guide to Murder
The Antique Hunter's Guide to Murder: the highly anticipated crime novel for fans of the Antiques Roadshow | C L Miller
WHAT ANTIQUE WOULD YOU KILL FOR? Freya, its down to you to finish what I started. . . Freya Lockwood has avoided the quaint English village in which she grew up for the last 20 years. That is until news arrives that Arthur Crockleford, antiques dealer and Freyas estranged mentor, has died... and the circumstances seem suspicious. You will uncover a reservation, I implore you to attend. . . But when a letter from Arthur is delivered, sent just days before his death, and an ordinary pine chest concealing Arthurs journals including reservations in her name are revealed, Freya finds herself sucked back into a life shed sworn to leave behind. But beware, trust no-one. Your life depends on it. . . Joining forces with her eccentric Aunt Carole, Arthurs staunch best friend, Freya follows both clues and her instincts to an old manor house for an antiques enthusiasts weekend. But not is all as it seems; the antiques are bad reproductions and the other guests are menacing and secretive. Can Freya and Carole solve the mystery surrounding the weekend before a killer strikes again? C L Miller's The Antique Hunter's Guide to Murder is the start of your new favourite crime series, The Number One Ladies Detective Agency meets Midsomer Murders by way of Reverend Richard Coles and Richard Osman.

Arthur, an antiques dealer, is murdered, he leaves his friends Freya and Carole clues to find the murderer. All of it is related to the antiques trade. Part of the clues will help Freya resolve issues she had with Arthur before he died. It was an interesting and quick read. Overall a good cozy.

Found this fun little gem on Libby when I was looking for something to listen to during kitchen chores. The author‘s mother is Judith Miller (of the British Antiques Road Show), so she grew up around antiques and decided to meld that experience to her love of murder mysteries. Fun little brain candy mystery, though bless her heart, Emilia Fox‘s American Southern accent is comically horrendous. Oh! And there‘s a second book on the way! 😊

82/150 I wasn't sure if this was my kind of book at first, but I was pleasantly surprised. It is delightful, a solid mystery with twists and turns, red herrings and plenty of clues for the reader to put together. I didn't like Freya at first, but once she got into hunter mode, and her confidence grew, she became a much more agreeable character. I look forward to more adventures with Freya and Carol, as the author as indicated ⬇️

RamsFan1963 that a new book will be arriving soon. 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 82nd book finished for #Readaway2024 @DieAReader @GHABI4ROSES @Andrew65 4mo

Enjoying the sunshine while I can. Really enjoyed this book. Well written. Short chapters. Easy to read. Interesting characters. End I did not see, nicely tied up. Researched the author , her mum is/ was on Antiques Road Show. Judith Miller who wrote lots of books about antiques and was author of Millers‘s Antique Handbook and Price Guide. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Jeg Forgot to say , it‘s a recent publication and it popped up at local op shop. Rare to find recent books in our op shops. For me anyway. 4mo

Freya has avoided her antique mentor for 20 years, since she believes he helped kill her love in Egypt at that time. When her mentor Arthur is found dead, and she receives a letter from him telling her to where to find the unique bird he's looked for, she is pulled back into the career she was so good doing. If you like descriptions of antiques and a whodunit story, you will like this book. Between a 3 and 4 for me

This is between a pick and so so for me. It was a good mystery and I liked the antique aspect of it. Arthur, the man murdered, left clues for Freya and her Aunt Carol. Carol was a great character. I would suggest this to others for a good mystery.

This was a good casual read. Cozy and lighthearted. Great back and forth between the two main characters, a niece and aunt. They‘re trying to decipher clues about the death of their friend, whilst uncovering a dastardly scheme. 5 ⭐️
