November‘s #BookSpin List. Time to start spending my evenings hunkering down under a blanket to read.

Grimoire Girl, by Hilarie Burton Morgan (2023)
⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
Premise: During a season of loss, an actress reflects on the simple things that provide meaning in life.
Review: I find this hard to rate and review. As a celebrity memoir about the author‘s search for meaning during a trying season this works really well. Cont.

‘Grimoire Girl is a tribute to reaching inward, honoring the magic that lives in all of us.‘
This is one of those books I just felt drawn to. I loved reading this. It was entertaining, a little touching, and she throws in a lot of great witchy tips.
Last book for #WinterGames2024, first book of 2025.

I really enjoyed reading about how much Hilarie loves her life and the people in her small New York State community. She loves all things witchy from mythology & goddesses, herbs & berries, planets & astrology, poetry and her collection of words is wisdom. She even purchased a haunted house. She seems to live a hygge life and I‘m down for that.

I‘ve always loved Hilarie Burton 🥹 This was just another 100 reasons to keep loving her 🥰 From the comforting sound of her voice to the amazing and heartfelt stories she shared, this was an easy binge ❤️

I‘ve not been on here for a while as my health has been really bad but I‘m enjoying catching up on all your bookish posts!
I‘m really loving this memoir it‘s just what I need right now and thank goodness for audiobooks 😊

(Audiobook)
I LOVED Burton-Morgan's debut novel, Memoir 'The Rural Diaries'. She is a natural writer and storyteller. Grimoire Girl has the same cozy, familiar quality of sitting down for tea with a friend. She lost me a bit on her descriptions of various gods and saints; these were concise and well written, but felt out of place to me for some reason. (I'm sure it's not her, it's me). Overall, worth the read!

So there‘s certain subjects, (leaving legacies, getting hand written mail among some) that we have a very similar view on though we‘ve come to the conclusion very differently. Better written than I thought it would. Definitely makes me think about my “Ithaca”. Definitely a person I instagram follow now and want to be friends with.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this book, but I loved the combination of personal story, shared experience and self-help/instruction to this. HBM isn't trying to turn anyone into a scary, craggy witch. She just wants us all to find out inner magic that ties us to the magic of the world around us. Our magical bliss, so to speak. It's kind of beautiful. #47-2023
