The Porto Rico setting sold me for this story. The reader realizes early if the sisterhood of Gabby and Isabel is the real thing so there were several times when I thought, okay, let‘s just epilogue this thing. But then it would….and another thing…. and I‘d be all, oh I didn‘t see that coming.

Mehso-so

Hmm. I didn‘t love this. Everything was a little too cheesy for my tastes and I knew the plot points long before they happened. Both main characters sort of annoyed me. I had been building this up for months, but it didn‘t meet my expectations. Oh well! 🤷🏻‍♀️

This is an entertaining story and the end, plot holes and all, ties up neatly in a nice little bow. We read it for book club. I recommend a pause if you just read The Berry Pickers though because the plots are oddly similar.

LiteraryinPA That‘s really useful to know because they‘re both on deck for me to pick up! Which do you recommend reading first? 6mo
vlwelser I would start with Berry Pickers, honestly. It's darker. Familia reads like contemporary romance in a way. It somehow manages to be fluffy. But it's entertaining. 6mo

4⭐️ read that explores identity, family, and, of course, what every family has, long-buried secrets!

As a fact-checker Gabby DiMarco believes in verifiable truths but those beliefs are rocked when a genealogy test uncovers a sister she never knew existed, a family she never knew she belonged to. Or does she?

A sad read but it also keeps you reading until the final secret revealed!

I will not lie and say that I had my doubts that this book was going to deliver for me, but it did!

I absolutely loved this story, cried a few times (happy tears mostly), and it had a few twists that I did not see coming. I sometimes felt that it had too many storylines and that something was not going to be tied seamlessly at the end, but again, this author did that and more.

Thoroughly enjoyed it. 5⭐️

This book pulled me in from the beginning.I had a hard time putting it down when it was time to do other things,&read it in record time.I couldnt wait to see how it would end. I‘ll admit that I was confused at times, but it all came together.I‘ve been to Puerto Rico a few times, but wish I‘d read this book first. The story definitely pointed out areas that I‘d like to visit. I guess I‘ll have to go back.Thank you,Kensington Publishing, for this ARC!
