This was such a fun read and it really was a hoot. I found myself laughing out loud at certain parts and I loved the story.

At first I really disliked Maxine but as the book progresses we get to see her growth and it is so beautiful. This book really has such great character growth from all of the main characters and I loved every bit of it.

Thank you so much to Inkshares, the publisher, for the gifted copy in exchange for an honest review!

? My first name, Sinikka, is Finnish. If you translate it literally, it means "little one in blue." Sininen is the word for blue, and -kka is a diminutive suffix. Thus my handle. ?
? Crochet, craft, cook, work, clean, drive, shower...
?Tagged. It was an excellent listen on a road trip.

Eggs #1- lovely 🥰 Thanks for playing! 4mo
KadaGul Instead of just crocheting 🧶 during football 🏈 season, I've started crocheting 🧶 while listening 👂 to an audiobook 🎧📚 . It's such a relaxing 😌 and enjoyable 🥰experience! #Audiobook&Crochet 4mo

I started this book on audio during a long drive. It was the perfect choice for my ride. While it isn't too deep, it's funny and heart-warming in its own quirky way. It's an enjoyable, easy read.

4 ☆ This was so much fun! In 1969 climbing the social ladder of the Palm Springs in-crowd is self absorbed Maxine‘s ONLY way of life.. that is until SURPRISE.. her husband of 16yrs drops the D-word. After her epic snap she‘s vanquished to Scottsdale of all places. Delightful, quirky and pure enjoyment for me. If you‘re wanting a change of pace this is the book! 👸🏼🥧

This was a riot and a half. 😂

Maxine is finally hosting an elite Palm Springs Thanksgiving— but the day of, her husband tells her he‘s leaving. She makes an outrageous scene when the friend she was trying to impress drops the ultimate bomb: he left her for his impregnated 19yo secretary & she was the last to know.

She manages to leave with $250,000 & a condo in Scottsdale. She just has to stay away from Palm Springs & change her name. 👇🏻

mrozzz (Cont‘d) In the tail end of 1969, in a strange new (pedestrian) place, with her new old name, a small fortune and plenty of time on her hands, Maxine befriends the local barkeep, Robert, and grumpily keeps an eye on a neighbor kid, Charles, in the complex as she hatches a plan for her next step: go back to pageants and redeem herself by winning Mr. & Mrs. American Pie. The only problem? She needs a husband and kids. (edited) 6y

“Everyone‘s so terrified of feminists. Of course, these are the same people who think that we women are harmless little flies. I personally have no problem with feminists. I just don‘t care for such rigid thinking. I simply don‘t understand why I can‘t be drop-dead gorgeous and the smartest person in the room.”

I‘ll excuse the “rigid” comment based on the time period, but otherwise I couldn‘t agree more! Feminism= acting/looking/being it all 💪🏻
