25 days, 25 chapters. This December, the countdown to Christmas will chill you to the bone. Hoping to bring his family closer together, Adam Gray arranges a vacation in a remote cabin on a snowy mountain. Things take a dark turn, however, when someone starts leaving gifts in the Christmas stocking mounted on the barn door. Each morning brings something new, and with every passing day, the contents become more terrifying. Soon, the family makes a spine-chilling realization: they've been dragged into a deranged game of Secret Santa, and if they want to survive, they will have to fight.

I read this as part of a readalong on Facebook where we read a chapter a day like an advent calendar, and it was mostly a fun, creepy read. The ending was a bit of a let down, but I still had a blast.

This is a suspenseful horror story meant to be read like an advent calendar. I started it after Christmas so I read it all the way through and I couldn‘t wait to see what happened. However, I did not like the ending.

I like the idea and premise of this book. I started reading late and once o caught up (very quickly) I had to force myself to only read one chapter a day. I liked the story and it was heavier than I thought. The only reason I didn‘t give 5 stars is because of the extreme cliff hanger ending. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I really enjoyed this one. I thought the idea of an advent book was great and it helped make the story more engaging. It was difficult to keep to a chapter per day once the story really picked up and I REALLY wanted to know what was going to happen next, but I held tough. I wouldn‘t mind seeing more advent type stories and will definitely seek out more Christmas horror.

3.5⭐Light Pick
•The chapters were short and easy to read, and I looked forward to reading the next chapter each day despite it being like a train wreck that you can‘t look away from most of the time. Eventually, I caved and read the last ten days in just two days. Each chapter alternates between the Dad, Mom, and the two daughters, and let‘s be real the kids were the real MVPs. But that ending; is so disappointing but typical of the horror genre.

#ReadAway2024

I actually finished this yesterday & wasn‘t the best a reading the chapter-a-day format until the last week or so. I‘m giving it a light pick mainly for the concept of a thriller/horror adventure calendar story & the atmospheric setting. I also liked how it was told by the 4 family member perspectives. I think the last quarter drug on a bit & I would have liked ⛔️ (*Spoiler Alert Here:*)⛔️ at least some kind of summation/reason ⬇️

DebinHawaii … continued Spoiler Alert! ⛔️ for the bad guy, who he was & why he did what he did. The author‘s notes said something like he thought it was scarier when the killer is someone who just likes to hurt or torture for the pleasure they get from it. I think that smacks of laziness. Couldn‘t we even get a sheriff or the police talking about that fact & it being overheard by one of the daughters? Regardless,it still was a fine holiday diversion. 3w

This book is read as an advent calendar. So, each day, you read a chapter and finish it on Christmas day.
It was a brilliant thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat. It was so hard to read just one chapter a day as each one ended on a cliffhanger.

tpixie Very interesting!! 3w

I just went ahead and finished this today. The 90% in was bothering me. A decent Christmas thriller, but come on! No idea who the ski-masked man is, still. Ugh.

A little Christmas horror story written to be read like an advent calendar. I read it straight through instead. It was creepy and suspenseful. And gave off all the snowy cold winter vibes.
