The Women of Wild Hill
The Women of Wild Hill | Kirsten Miller
Its always three, isnt it? Three furies, three fates, three graces. Science still has no explanation for the number three, but women instinctively feel its power. We dont know why three works, but we know it does. Three is the number that gets the job done.

#Read2025

Finished the audiobook yesterday & while I didn‘t love this one as much as The Change (the dark humor was less), I still really enjoyed it. The narration of the audiobook was excellent & once we got through the characters‘ backgrounds & stories, I was caught up in the story. For some reason, I was midway through the book before I realized it was set in the same place as The Change & I liked revisiting some of the characters. I do ⬇️

DebinHawaii … like Miller‘s brand of witchy, fight the patriarchy writing, although the non-witchy Lula Dean‘s Little Library of Banned Books is probably still my favorite of her adult novels. 1w

Heck yes! Kirsten Miller is 2 for 2 in 5 star ratings and I don't give those freely. This was amazing and hit all the marks of the gender equality books that have dominated my non-fiction selections in 2025. This book is the And Then There Were None (Christie) × When Woman Were Dragons (Barnhill).

I think I went into this one with extremely high expectations (I LOVED Lula Dean‘s Little Library of Banned Books) and found myself disappointed. I‘m all about witchy premises and powerful women, but the ending felt rushed, anticlimactic, and almost kind of a let down (without giving away anything). The story slowly unfolds, and the reader encounters many women in the same family and their stories to fight for justice and/or succumb to male…⬇️⬇️⬇️

Librarybelle ⬆️⬆️⬆️…domination or trickery…it could get a little confusing and a little long. And when the action does finally happen, well, as I said, it‘s a little ho hum. I listened to this one and do enjoy January LaVoy‘s straightforward performance. She has a good narrative voice that moves the story forward. I would probably have bailed on the book if not for her narration. 2mo
DGRachel Oh no! I bought this recently and was really looking forward to it. 😭 2mo
Librarybelle @DGRachel I know other readers who liked it! It may be because I listened to it rather than reading it. 2mo

I loved “The Change“ and while this one was not quite as good, it was still a wonderfully fun read. Set in the same world, but not quite a sequel, it can be read on its own. This witchy feminist story is about a family of women who try to right the wrongs of the world by doing away with the very wealthy men who have ruined the climate to satisfy their greed. Also in the mix are family drama, romance and humor. Thanks to Edelweiss+ for the ARC. 4/5

🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂 I love Kirsten Miller‘s books, although The Change probably remains my all time favorite. The history of the witch family, the revenge fulfillment of feminine rage, and the ties to some familiar faces made this a 5 ⭐️ read and my fav of the week!

Read4life Nice. I‘ll have to check out this author. 💙🍁💙 2mo

⭐️⭐️⭐️

I‘m realizing that, in general, I don‘t seem to click as much with generational stories where there are a lot of characters over a long period of time because it‘s harder for me to get invested in the characters. I liked Kirsten Miller‘s last two books better and will still pick up her next one! 🎧

I loved The Change by this author and if possible I loved this follow up even more. Brigid and Phoebe are estranged sisters, descendants of a long line of powerful women. Phoebe is a healer, while Brigid has the gift of death, and together with a third they are meant to restore balance to the Earth. The history of choice and sacrifice that led them to this pivotal moment is totally absorbing. I would like witch powers immediately please!

It‘s a ‘not right now.‘ I‘ll 100% be coming back to this because Kirsten Miller is a genius. But right now, my ability to focus is abysmal, and the between books stage is getting the best of me. Headed to look for something with short chapters that doesn‘t require a lot of thought. Wish me luck! 🍀🤞

This one is definitely the spiritual (though not actual) sequel to Miller‘s The Change with a dash of Alix Harrow‘s The Once and Future Witches mixed in. I really enjoyed it.

I can tell the author took great pleasure in writing this generational tale for her own catharsis, complete with Easter eggs from The Change. It's the kind of book you cocoon yourself under a blanket with snacks to read for the weekend.

I LOVED The Change. I'm hoping this is as good.

JamieArc This is one I‘ll be afraid to read because my expectations might be too high after loving The Change. 4mo

This is cute. I mean it's about the environment and how evil men rule the world, but it's just not that complicated. There are Easter eggs from The Change. If you like this author, which I do, definitely go for it.
