Future Boy: Back to the Future and My Journey Through the Space-Time Continuum
Future Boy: Back to the Future and My Journey Through the Space-Time Continuum | Michael J Fox, Nelle Fortenberry
5 posts | 4 read | 7 to read
In early 1985, Michael J. Fox's days were already dedicated to taping the hit sitcom Family Ties, but then the chance of a lifetime came his way. Soon, he committed his nights to a new time-travel adventure film being produced by Steven Spielberg -- Back to the Future. Fox's nightly commute from a soundstage at Paramount to the back lot at Universal Studios, from one dream job to another, would become his own space-time continuum. In Future Boy, Fox tells the remarkable story of playing two landmark roles at the same time -- a slice of entertainment history that's never been told.

Whether you‘re a Gen Xer like me and loved both Family Ties and Back to the Future or you came to love the movie later, this is a short but really delightful look at Fox‘s experience making the movie. His schedule was insane—Family Ties by day and shooting the movie at night. Yet he shows nothing but gratitude. I loved this.

squirrelbrain Ohhh, I need to get this for hubby - it‘s his favourite film. (Alongside Ferris!) 4d
Hooked_on_books @squirrelbrain Back in the day, I had both on VHS. Pirated, as was the way then. 😬 3d
squirrelbrain His VHS videos are probably still in a box in our loft! 😝 3d

Such a wonderful narration by the endearing Michael J. Fox and listening to him talk about doing the excellent movie Back to the Future.

Loved hearing more about MJF double duty filming of ‘Family Ties‘ & ‘Back to the Future‘.

My only complaint was that the Audible copy was an Abridged version (4.5 hrs as opposed to the 8+ hrs).

This was so fun! Short due to a quick deadline in preparation for the fortieth anniversary of BTTF, but it was so nice going back in time to hear about the insane double duty MJF did as Alex P. Keaton and Marty McFly.

Ugh, Covid. I come from hearty stock, so it was just a cold with a little more lethargy and for about 30 hours, I had a cough that sounded like I've smoked a pack of Camels daily since birth. I'm on the upswing again and doing some reading. My #sundaybuddyread is in the office, so I'm working on a couple of others. In tidying up & applying a layer of Lysol everywhere, I found a small stack of books that my non-reader boyfriend set aside. ❤️

Librarybelle Glad you‘re on the upswing! 4w
